Thanks for keeping us updated on what is happening with Ms. Bonner. Every time she is an unsuccessful candidate for a job, this proves that Dr. Bonner is not suited to be a superintendent. I'm glad that other communities are not repeating New Bedford's mistake.
Who cares what she is doing? Don't we have enough issues? Lets get out of the I told you so, we were so right. We need to pay attention to what is going on now. How does your contract look? I don't have one!
In response to the previous post, the failure of Portia Bonner is still relevant to this district because it gave birth to the Education Roundtable. Many of the disgruntled Portia supporters took refuge there, and in the UIA, in an organized effort to bring down our union. By the way, the NBEA is very capable of multitasking. The contract and many other issues are being worked on. What have you done for the NBEA lately?
I remember the Portia worshipers crying that she had gotten a bum rap in NB and that any other district would want her. Well, that certainly has not happened. She has been shown the door in every district where she has applied including Waterbury where she lives and still plays the piano in her father's church.
So Westport residents with children in school received an enormous list os supplies need for The ENTIRE Class. The bottom of the list states- "If a certain item is not available, please send it in when it becomes available"... Don't taxes pay for supplies? I think Selectman Dutra- of the Education Roundtable- needs to focus his attention in Westport and leave NB alone. At least NB teachers don't demand supplies from our students
The Roundtable is still not collaborating with the teachers... wouldn't it have been more productive to send a simple survey stating their goals to help and ask what we could use?
I'm glad you pay dues. That is a prerequisite for membership. Please remember that ALL OF US are the NBEA. Lou and the Board of Directors can't do everything. If everyone did just one thing besides pay dues, we would have the strongest association in the nation. If anyone is willing to lend a hand, call Lou. I did that a year and a half ago. I'm fortunate to work with some quality people and I truly enjoy advocating for New Bedford's students and teachers.

Where has Portia applied?
I care about what she's doing. That B**** put me through hell.

Please answer the question. Did I have a choice about joining the Union.
