The MTA has established a web-based toolkit on the Stand for Children ballot initiative petition.

The MTA has established a web-based toolkit on the Stand for Children ballot initiative petition.

The kit is posted at: http://massteacher.org/stand

It contains links to fact sheets on the ballot question, the petition itself, the attorney general’s four-page summary, video and audio programs on Stand’s aggressive anti-union tactics in other states, the MTA legal complaint against the initiative and other materials.

Please forward the toolkit link to your colleagues. If you have a Facebook page, please share the Toolkit link tohelp spread the word about how the Stand initiative will reduce member rights at the bargaining table and impose top-down mandates on districts and teachers concerning evaluations, transfers, dismissals and the acquisition of Professional Teacher Status.

MTA’s lawsuit will be going before a single justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. If the MTAprevails, the initiative will be stricken from the ballot.

Meanwhile, however, the initiative petition process is proceeding in accordance with state law. It is currently before the Legislature. If the Legislature rejects it or fails to act on it by May 2 and it has not been stricken from the ballot as a result of our lawsuit, then Stand will have to collect additional signatures to qualify the question for the November ballot.

The toolkit will be updated regularly, so please remember to visit:

And please forward the link and promote it widely!

Thank you.
