Who is Mitchell kidding? If he's concerned about the "personal tone of criticism" direct at him, he should watch the video of himself demeaning the superintendent of schools. This guy must think we're all stupid. He may have a Harvard degree but he doesn't have an once of sense.
Johnson is right, Mitchell is a 1-term empty suit.
Who is he kidding indeed? He didn't even attend a recent meeting of CLEAN much to the disappointment of those that participated and attended. His behavior and actions betray his true conscience. It seems more like he is serving private rather than public interests.
I have to give Mr. Johnson a lot of credit, unlike many, he admits when he is wrong. You see, he supported Jon Mitchell for mayor as many did. I certainly can't blame him for having an opinion and supporting the candidate that he thought would the best person to lead New Bedford.
Elections are complicated. You listen to what the candidates have to say which can be confusing in itself and try to make the best decision on election day. You roll the dice and hope for the best.
Sometimes you win and lose. As in this case, Mr. Johnson's candidate won but sometimes the best candidate doesn't make the best mayor. Mr. Johnson knows this quite well because that's exactly what happened here.
I have to give Mr. Johnson credit. He, like many other well intentioned members of our community, were deceived by canidate Mitchell but Mr. Johnson was not fooled by Mayor Mitchell.
The moment this new mayor took office his agenda became transparent and It didn't take long for Mr Johnson to figure this out. Unlike others who would blindly support a mayor they had supported as a candidate, Mr. Johnson called Mitchell on it and he has held Mitchell accountable for his actions.
As time goes on we'll on begin to see that Mitchell was not the best choice for Mayor. We'll also see that the political machine which couldn't control Scott Lang, not only got Mitchell elected but also controls his actions.
I don't think Mr. Mitchell will be Mayor for very long and Mr. Johnson will be be more than happy to show the mayor the door.
