Teacher Survey Shows Morale Is at a Low Point

What are your thoughts?

It may be at a 20 year low but I thought it would be even worse...the saints are teaching in our public schools.

Come to Normandin, the poster child for low morale.

Yeah, I wonder what downtown learned in the learning walk at Normandin yesterday. That everyone can pretend to be happy for a day? They should meet privately with some of the "good" kids to find out what's really going on, how discipline is out of control and misbehaving kids are running the show.

Just wait until warnings come out and Bonneau blames the teachers for all the bad grades! That will be a fun day in the building.

Bonneau should gracefully retire, and not wait until she gets sacked as things get worse.

Mayor Mitchell should read this article. I don't think he understands that by going after the superintendent he's harming our students.

Let's not forget, he's only following the orders of the political machine that ran New Bedford before Lang.

Bonneau will never get fired. She's still part of the "old boy's club" where the more you screw up the further you go in this school system. Nice work if you can get it!!

I hope you are wrong about Bonneau and the old boy network. She has got to go. The school is a disaster. People should see the way the students laugh at her. It's a mockery.

No one has brought up the most important question concerning Normandin. How is the girls basketball team doing? Come on, people, focus!

The students at Roosevelt laugh at the principal too, especially during her TV show.

I wonder how much Dr. Francis learned about the true Normandin during her investigation.

I hear at least a few staff members told the truth to the investigators about the chaos at Normandin . Whether that's enough to break the old boys network is another matter.

I don't hear much about problems at Keith. Why? Because discipline is actually dealt with there. I know a few teachers there and they love it. And before anyone tells me to work there, let me say that is not the point. All of our middle schools should be safe, structured and loving. What's happening at Normandin is a shame that needs to be fixed.

Bonneau is tied in to the school committee too, not just Dr. Francis. It's going to be tough to get rid of her, even though I agree she must go. I have several friends at Normandin and they say things are pretty bad.

Keith has their business together. I have a child in their 2nd year at Keith and they love it. They don't put up with nonsense and are all about the kids succeeding.

It is really unhelpful when people on this blog talk about connections, networks, old boys and conspiracies as the reason things happen or don't happen. Get real.

Get real? Networks and old ties are precisely why many good things don't get done. Why do you think Bonneau is still around? Normandin is falling apart and she is protected. Shameful.

You should hear the students at Normandin when Bonneau gets on the intercom. It seems to me that they actually get louder to drown her out.

Being a member of the Keith faculty...I count my blessings that:

1. We have administrators (some more than others) that back up their teachers.

2. That discipline is enforced and disruptive behavior is not tolerated.

3. The students respond to EFFECTIVE instruction in the classrooms and don't mock our principal. (If only Rich could postpone that retirement...)
