Mayor Mitchell gets extension for N. B. to submit the turnaround plan, but someone apparently forgot to tell the Superintendent of Schools.

Who gave Mitchell the authority to ask Chester for an extension? The education reform law gives that authority to the superintendent.

Who's advising the mayor on the law? Whoever it is needs to be fired immediately.

Thank God we have WBSM to report the news. Wouldn't it be great to have a newspaper in New Bedford?

I am proud of how Dr. Francis has conducted herself during the past few weeks. One has to wonder if the FFP got his law degree from an online diploma mill. After all, the head of GLPCS has gotten away with academic dishonesty for years. The FFP doesn't seem to know much about contract law, Robert's Rules, and the Massachusetts education statutes. Are there "law Schools" advertised on match book covers?

I guess the law only applies to us. The powerful and the rich don't have to follow the same rules we do.

I agree with the post about the FFP's lack of legal acumen. When he's done as mayor in 2 years, the FFP can open "John Mitchell's School of Law." There won't be any contract law classes, but there would be numerous courses on character assassination and how to bully your enemies. Neil Mello, Mike Longo, and some notable members of the Roundtable could all be adjunct faculty.

The rich and powerful act as if they know what's best for us. The evidence is all around us: rich former mayors, powerful lawyers, self serving politicians, and misguided businessmen all telling us they have all the answers while profiting at our expense.

FFP is a big shot who is whipping us in to shape. Please dont trifle over right, wrong, procedure and the law while he makes his mark. Just play this song over and over again:

Why did the mayor place the public comment at of the school committee meeting? Is this an attempt to silence the public? Why isn't Marlene Pollock defending the public's right to speak? Has Marlene become part of the political machine she used to criticize?

Did Jon Mitchell get elected into a job that he is incapable of doing?

Mitchell is a one-man show. Second time he took it upon himself to go to the DOE without telling the SC. Isn't he only entitled to 1 vote?

Why aren't the rest of the SC members, other than Tom C., challenging him? Are we not a democracy?

What's going to happen to us when he finishes with the her and the adm. team?

He seems to be J J E, jury, judge, executioner.

Stand up people and fight back; we have numbers; we have strength, and we have power--especially at the ballot box in 2013 which will be here before we know it.
