Teachers don't want Innovation Schools in their buildings

"This School Committee was elected to represent equally every child in the city of New Bedford's public schools," said Carol Strupczewski, a retired teacher. "Why in God's name are you trying to separate and divide our system?"

Barbara Swire, presented the committee with a petition, signed by Roosevelt teachers, protesting the implementation of an innovation school in their building.

Lou St. John said that in contract negotiations, NBEA had asked the School Committee for additional services for its students and teachers but were denied these services because "the district could not afford what it would cost."
"Why did you tell us ... that you could not afford our requests for more services ... but now you are willing to give the innovation schools all that they are requesting?" he asked.
Jennifer Clune, the "Anticipated Principal" of the Gomes Innovation School, said that there is a lot of misinformation in the community about innovation schools.

Perhaps the misinformation about the Gomes Innovation school is coming from the "anticipated principal" who stands to make a lot of money from this backroom deal.

The facts are the facts... The "anticipated principal" seems to enjoy twisting the facts!!!! The Gomes school community will fight until the bitter end to not allow this to happen!!!!!!!
