Marlene Pollock: Before Her Election

"I applaud the NBEA for supporting all of these progressive measures to support our
students.  I think it is critical for all of us to work together to insure that education receives the
funding necessary to be successful, and as I stated above, I have been working for years to insure
that our educational system has sufficient revenue to meet our needs."

"I actively encourage people to send their children to public schools and to be active in the
school system.  I stay on top of any and all issues to ensure that NBPS is professional and
highly competent.  I work very hard to advocate for teachers, students, and all other
personnel necessary to advancing our public school goals, and will continue to do so in the
future."

"I have a very cordial relationship with the NBEA’s leadership them and look forward to
future cordial relations."

"I have a good working relationship with many teachers and administrators who are
in the bargaining unit.  I feel that working together as a team will enable our rapport to
flourish as we work together for the benefit of the students.
I also have spoken out for better conditions for teachers –specifically common
planning time which is essential to share best practices.  And I have been a consistent
proponent of small class sizes which are essential to student success.
And recently I advocated for teachers at the Gomes School who wanted to see some of the
building issues corrected more quickly than had been happening."

"My 3 main priorities are:
   1. Creating the conditions for teachers to share best practices.
2.  Continuing my efforts to insure competition on all school contracts in order to
save needed monies to finance educational needs such as smaller classes.
3.  Increasing parental involvement in the schools. "

"I look forward, if elected, to working closely with the NBEA for our common goal of
educating our children."
