ATTENTION: Members, Friends, and Supporters - Please Attend Tomorrow's City Council Meeting

The next City Council meeting is tomorrow, Thursday, June 27th at 7:00 p.m. at New Bedford City Hall.

It is vital that NBEA members attend to display their unity and solidarity during this tough time.

We believe that the city has an obligation properly fund its schools.

We believe that the city has an obligation to its children and educators.

Please arrive by 6:15 p.m. and stand next to your colleagues outside of City Hall as the Councilors arrive, and make it clear that they must vote to properly fund our schools before any additional damage is done to our school system.

Our students are depending on us.

Lou,
We need to start putting names with those who are being cut. Those who feel attending such a meeting would be "fruitless" need to see the names behind the numbers. Is there a way to learn of administrators who were cut? Will they be the first ones to be brought back before classroom teachers?????

If it is vital that NBEA show solidarity why is Joanne promoting tomorrow as another rally for solely arts positions?
Why are they first on the bring back list ahead of the math guy who got a pink slip on Monday? Because of politics, that's why.

How about the nurses that were cut? How can one nurse handle 800 kids in a middle school. There are going to be law suits galore - good luck city of New Bedford - you're going to need it. Forget improving MCAS scores - 30 kids in a classroom is NOT reasonable - how low can the scores go?
