Top Ten Reasons RIGOR is a buzzword.
10. a rigorous lesson is in the mind of a learner. 9. all administrators use it. 8. all administrators insist all teachers use it. 7. the word rigor trumps all others. 6. real rigor was discredited as mindless rote years ago. 5. creative lessons, oxymoronically, must contain rigor. 4. student centered rigor is a fool's mission. 3. it must be always in use everywhere. 2. it is undefinable . 1 even students are sick of it ( one student told me he was going to ask his guidance counselor not to put him in any rigor classes next semester).
This young man has more common sense than the entire DESE. They'll never listen to this because it easier for them to continue on this train wreck we're on with one test being the end all.
