The students in the end are the ones who are suffering ... Submitted by a member

Dear Members:

I too feel that it is time for our members to come together in support of our schools and the children we impact each day.

The current climate of our schools is horrifying. Each day I am inundated with tragic stories of our members being mistreated. The students in the end are the ones who are suffering.  The changes to our school system have occurred too rapidly. Our members are not being given the  support, supplies and training necessary to be successful.  This has fostered a climate of fear.

The new evaluation system is being implemented as a means to control, pressure, manipulate, punish, mistreat and overwork our members. This was never the intent of the new evaluation system. In fact if done appropriately evaluators and educations would work COLLABORATIVELY to improve the learning of our students. In New Bedford there is no collaboration, there is only RIGOR. This top down management system is not what the students and families of New Bedford need.

I wholeheartedly support holding a general meeting to discuss the “state of the union”.
