Urge your legislators to co-sponsor MTA-backed bills
Please e-mail your state representative and state senator today and urge them to co-sponsor MTA-supported legislation introduced for the 2017-2018 session.
These bills were developed through a process that included extensive input from MTA members. Each focuses on wide-ranging issues that together articulate our shared vision for public education, fairness for all workers in our communities, and a secure retirement for public-sector employees.
Click here to read more about MTA’s legislative package. The deadline for co-sponsorship of bills is fast approaching, so please send your e-mails today.
Legislation for the Raise Up constitutional amendment did not need to be re-filed in the current session. The amendment, another key item in MTA’s legislative agenda, would dedicate approximately $2 billion annually to public education and transportation. Revenue would be raised by adding a 4 percentage point tax on the portion of a filer’s annual income over $1 million.
