I heard her on WBSM this morning...sounds like she wants her contract to be bought out so that she can move on......

How long will she still be around if she receives a bad evaluation? What damage will she do before leaving? Will she even be around or does she have language in her contract giving her time to look for a job? If she's leaving, what blatant contract evaluations will she attempt in her lame duck status?

We need to make our voices heard to school committee members... we do not think she meets expectations.

You think these guys are going to give her a bad evaluation, not renew her contract and admit they made a mistake? Not hardly.

Thumbs down for Portia Bonner.

The only reason she wants her evaluation public is because the committee might go easy on her.

Oh grow up people! Which one of us can say that we were great our jobs from the very beginning? If you were, then maybe you should have applied for the job of superintendent. Do you think the likes of Dennis Winn would have been better? Remember, according to all the research everyone loves to quote - meaningful change takes three years. By the way, why don't some of you with those glowing evaluations from your first year post them so the rest of us can appreciate them?

If I remember right smarta_ _, we could be fired within the first 90 days of work under the 90 day rule, and at the end of the year without being given a reason. We also earned far less than 150,000.

The fact that we survived our first year tells you we must have at least gotten satisfactory evaluatons given the rules and conditions we and all new teachers work under. How many of us have been non renewed and not given a reason? Kiss up some more.

Maybe there should be a strong showing of union members present for the evaluation in order to show our non-appreciation and non support for DPB.

The poster who claims that you are given one year or more as a do over does not understand the superintendency requirements. You are not a novice, it is not an apprenticeship for goodness sake. You are hired as an expert to work with the district's resources. Plus, if you are a rookie you are supposed to learn from your mistakes. But Bonner has demonstrated an unwillingness to even admit mistakes. All problems are caused by a conspiracy against her personally.

I think we should post the number of people wrongly fired by this Supt.who the union had to fight for. How much chance did they have? Some were fired without due process and the union won their jobs back. Traditionally, new bosses try to build bridges to foster collaboration. This individual has never come across as wanting to work together with the worker bees. She doesn't even try to get along with her bosses. Why should she. If fired or non-renewed she probably still gets paid the balance of her contract while she looks for another job.

How many people did the SOS fire??T have read this statement more than once.Did these people own their jobs? Where was the union?

Need our voices heard by the School Committee? Have you seen the members? Aren't they busy getting jobs for the special few?

Did you read the part about the union got theses people their jobs back? That's where the union was. It doesn't matter if they owned their jobs or not.

Wow anonymous! I'm not comndemning the union and as a matter of fact no I have never read the union got the jobs back. I had heard around the water cooler to be careful of posts as some folks were very prickly. This is my last post.

Read the post just above yours where you ask "where was the union?"

We all know that the job of the superintendent is a tough one and impossible to make everyone happy at the same time. But lets face it, Bonner created half of her own problems with her contemptuous attitude toward everyone. Has anyone actually viewed her at school committee meetings? Her disdainful demeanor is obvious and her lack of communication with the community just screams personal agenda. She says she gives a damn about our children but her attitude speaks volumes.

DSsoftball---where were you and the rest of the union reps?

It's obvious that she has no respect for anyone's opinion but her own. Research and data mean nothing to her. She thinks she's the only person capable of making effective decisions and she lets you know it. She has no respect for teachers, school committee members or the mayor. Boot her before she does more damage. Her "reforms" have all been done before, and she even takes credit for things already established by other people.

I don't doubt that the job of superintendent is incredibly difficult and stressful but didn't she know what she was walking into when she took the job? Didn't she do her own research on the district? Wouldn't it have made more sense to befriend the staff and faculty of the district you are a stranger in? I'm sorry but I agree that she is not here for our children. We were meant to be just another notch on her resume. She created her own problems with her lousy and lone cowboy attitude. I'm not defending the school committee but if everyone remembers correctly, they were singing her praises for the first 9months until they started getting the same attitude everyone else was seeing. She's not a leader. She's a tyrant.

good riddance to this arrogant self serving one with an agenda. Ct. was glad to see her go and now she claims she was "not a good match for new bedford"! I'm sure she will continue to find a way to toot her own horn at 200 grand a year all while treating parents like low class citizens.
