Quoting Dennis Winn and Darcey Fernandes…what a joke!

I bet they will dig up Nick Fischer next. He does a great job promoting himself while bad-mouthing the system.

Did anyone else see the article by Bob Unger on the editorial page? He called Darcy Fernandes "innovative." I have another "i" word for her: incompetent. The RMS principal has constant chaos and confusion in the building. My sources tell me that drugs were confiscated from a student locker on Friday. In a letter to parents, Ms. Fernandes said the school was in lock down for 20 minutes. It was much closer to 60 minutes. The students were laughing at her bald faced lie. How about the TWO guns that were found last year. The first incident leaked to the media, while the second was top secret.
How about the boy and girl found in their underwear about to engage in a sex act? There were no consequences. My sources tell me that the Darcinator said it was a "guidance issue."
The S-T protected Portia Bonnner. Now it does the same for Darcy Fernandes.
The S-T's standards of journalism have slipped since the days of Jim Ragsdale.

The S-T ignores the data that Darcy Fernandes allegedly embraces. Roosevelt has failed to make AYP while she has been there. The S-T calls that "innovation." I call that failure! The MCAS scores have taken a nosedive. Let's see Darcy spin that one.

Ok who's protecting Ms. Fernandes? Someone needs to seriously take a look at some of well known and documented facts against Ms. Fernandes. She has covered up numerous issues within the RMS building,from fires to drugs and weapons none of which have made the headlines. How can Bob Unger refer to her as "innovative"; perhaps he should have used the term "con". I have known of incidents against her in which she has lied and covered up her gross incompetence. Her latest misusing grant monies. If this is true it can be proven. In addition if the monies were from the Federal Government than she has committed a crime a federal crime. But even more intriguing than this is the fact that from the Superintendent, the school committee, the major even the fire chief someone powerful is protecting Ms. Fernandes. Who is it and what's her connection? How could the district give her a one year contract when most people would have been fired a long time ago. This city needs to be asking the right questions and get the "true" answers. She need to go NOW!

One of Darcy's innovations: grade 6 students have been assigned to "Independent Reading" (study hall) instead of receiving instruction in core academic classes. This is because the woman can't do a master schedule to save her own life. In any other school system, she would be fired! Darcy is our lemon!

Darcy Fernandes - the innovator, who is actually the destroyer. She has competently achieved the following:

1. Seen a consistent decrease in her school's scores over the past three years: http://profiles.doe.mass.edu/mcas/performance_level.aspx?linkid=32&orgcode=02010415&orgtypecode=6&

2. Elimated Social Studies positions and as a result dismantled grade 7 teams as students now travel to grade 8 rooms and other teachers for social studies;

3. Science and Social Studies have been religated to the Unified Arts and their "time on learning" has been significantly diminished;

4. She has actually eliminated significant amounts of class time so that students can walk the streets, cleaning the neighborhoods, watch movies, take walks around the cafetorium, etc.

5. She holds the district and probably the state record for schedule changes in a given school year. She successfully has students and teachers in a constant state of confusion.

Why is she constantly trotted out there as a spokesperson for the district? When will we get smart?

Where did they get the ratio of 14 students to one teacher? Try 28-30 students to one teacher-what a joke! Why don't they ask the teachers what is needed to improve the learning environment-how about less administration positions would = more teachers, hire more paraprofessionals to help the teachers instead of wasting money on positions that a basically un-needed.
