"Parents can't keep skipping school" but they do and they also skipped the Building Better Schools forum.

Less then a 100 people attended the forum. Teachers, pricipals, nbea union leaders, nbps school officials, school committee members, clergy, roundtable and retired people were there but missing in action were parents and students.

Until parents and students hold themselves accountable for their actions/inactions nothing will change in New Bedford. How does that compare to the gateway cities?

Can we please find a way to blame teachers for the poor attendance at the event? We blame them for every thing else.

To increase attendance The Standard Times could have sent busses to every home in New Bedford and picked up the parents. That would have been the right thing to do.

Joe is right. The S-t could also have provided them with a free dinner.

The STimes should be held accountable and should now have 10% of its staff fired.

I am surprised that the Standard Times didn't find a way to blame the teachers for the parents not attending. I really get disgusted with people making claims whenthey really have absolutely no idea what we deal with on a daily basis.

Typical that no parents attended... they don't even come for open house, or when the principal calls home ( if they have the right number) to pick up the student for illness or behavior.

It's all the teacher's fault! We should enable the populace more and send buses to their homes so they don't have to exert themselves! My god! How could we be so thoughtless! Imagine, taking a part in your child's education-teaching a child the importance of education-wow! Isn't that a pipe dream!
