The school commitee should have actual classroom experience so they really know what is going on. No more idealistic and unrealistic views-come in a classroom of 32 children and teach, put up with the BS-not for one day but for the whole school year and then come and talk the talk and walk the walk!
Most (not all) of the SC members and candidates have a parent's or student's knowledge of the k12 because they were once a parent or student. Some think they bring skills in psychology(!), finance, administration, or social policy because of their work experience. All this means they have nothing more than a tiny insight into the day to day operation of our classrooms in the NCLB age.
