What are your thoughts on this editorial? Do you support what Mayor John Mitchell is doing?

You want a quick fix? Tell Dr. Francis to remove the principals, like Bonneau, who have created an unhealthy, unsafe environment in our schools. We don't need more professional development or a new literacy initiative each year. We need school-based leaders who inspire staff, not target them when they report about the outrageous behavior of a few students. If Normandin had different leadership, MCAS scores, grades and behavior would improve. Teachers would look forward to coming to work (and not leave at the end of the day crying, as is happening). Learning would actually take place. Imagine that!
1 term-Mitchell is listening to the wrong superintendent. The one who's advising him did a lot of harm to new beige. The guy was semi-retired while he was supposed to be working. Now that we have a real superintendent...he's trying to get her fired.
Tony Cabral for mayor. Mitchell is going to destroy our school system.

Normandin can't succeed under Bonneau's so-called leadership. Kids laugh at her because they know there's no discipline. Teachers have thrown up their hands, knowing she won't support them. She says she loves all children. What about the ones who want to learn and are disrupted by the few? Doesn't the majority deserve a real education? It's an embarassment.
I concur with the first comment. The system does not need to be overhauled. At Normandin, all we need is a new principal, respected by the staff and the students. Calling downtown... hello? hello?
I attended the first of Mr. Mitchell's meetings at Roosevelt. He asked those of us who did not speak to email him with ideas. I did. Guess what - no response. SURPRISE!
