Another title for this editorial could be, "The Standard Times gives the School Committee its orders".

I found the following s-t statement rather interesting. "Firing her, therefore, seems at best unfair and at worst cruel." Aren't they the organization that has pushed Mitchell to get her fired? It seems that way to me.

Are they now saying Mitchell is cruel? Go figure!

Dr. Francis's only failure I can see is letting principals like Bonneau and Fernandes run their schools into the ground. I'm sorry Francis is taking the fall for their incompetence. If they stay, all bets are off on the mayor's political future. Same with the rest of the School Committee.

Boy, I couldnt agree more with the comment about the principals. Dr. Francis was too lenient with them and they took advantage of her.

Hello Bob,. I got your instructions in today's paper, rest assured I completely understand and will do as you say. I'll make sure the school committee falls in line. I don't expect any problems from them., they know I'm the boss and will jump on my command. Thanks so much for all you've done and haven't done for me. Wink, wink. Is there anything you need me to do for you?

Bonneau should retire and Normandin could use someone who remembers what its like to be in the classroom. The place is unstable.

Ungerism is a philosophy predicated on the view that New Bedford is congenitally inferior and requires the intellect of journeymen writers with inflated communications degrees to improve its lot.

Of course you all know no amount of posts or protests will change anything. Bottom line, the deed is done, she is packing as I post. The focus now is to hope the clowns (SC) get the help they need to find a Super that can turn around the district.

I agree it's a done deal. Anyone have an idea what's going to happen to the middle school principals? I know the only good one is retiring.

I didn't realize that we elected the Standard-Times as overseers to the mayor and school committee. Guess my ballot missed that name on the list!

Mitchell gave a speech today at UMass Dartmouth. He claimed to be pro-union. What a joke! This guy thinks he can continue to fool us. I guess he thinks that he's our intellectual superior just as Bullard does. . He may may have fooled us once but never again. We all know he's working for the education roundtable and the standard times. Jon Mitchell is an inarticulate one term mayor.

To the doom and gloomers, those who surrender before the fight has even begun: I say, shame on you. Our country was not founded by cowards. Americans persevere against all odds regardless of the obstacles and that is what i plan to do. The good people of Wisconsin did not give in to Walker and the good people of new bedford should not give in to the Mitchells. God bless America.

Subj: (UIA's)-United Interfaith Action Atonomous School Consultant Dan French

It is Important to note that during this past Wednesday, April 11, 2012 held at Keith Middle School, UIA's Consultant Dan French, gave a public presentation (Dan French's background included below), gave an Example of what Small Atonoumus Schools would be, how much resources, both Financial,  Maintance, and other cost yet to be determined, not to include supplies, Utilities and other unknown factors, paid Administrators, including New Additional Staff/Teachers, who would pay Union dues, without Union Protection.

Where will all This Money Come From? There Cannot be any Overide of Proposition 2 & 1/2.

When I personally questioned Consultant Dan French, on the finanacial cost, and dollar amount, that this would take away from New Bedford's District School Budget, Dan French used the words, "COST NEUTRAL", to describe the amount of money, while never giving a dollar amount.

There is no such School Expenditure, that is "COST NEUTRAL".

"COST NEUTRAL", does not explain money value, and Dan French further stated that an Atonomous School could be housed/located in the same public school buildings, such as Keith Middle School or any other Public School.

Think about this for a moment, if there are failures at the Atonomus Schools (and there would be), the student goes back to New Bedford's Public Schools, but the Money "Does Not", follow the Student.

I ask you to judge for yourself. Does the above example, represent "Equal Educational Opportunities, Under and By Law"?

Please Note: Since No one in New Bedford, neither Government, Elected School Committee, Mayor with assistance from New Bedford's City Council, or any New Bedford Citizens, have ever attempted, or completed or finalized any Atonomous Schools designs or schools, or have never set up a Small Atonomous School, Dan French would be the paid Consultant, for (UIA) United Interfaith Action, that would set up this Small Atonomous School or Schools, provided that there is a "VOTE" of Approval by New Bedford's Elected School Committee.

(a.) This presents  very large Budget Problems and Issues, for the City of New Bedford, School Administration, Mayor and City Councilor, as Budgets are annual and must be submitted in a Timely Fashion.

The Primary question becomes, Can New Bedford's Public District and New Bedford Citizens/Taxpayers Afford This?

The obvious asnswer is , "NO WE CAN'T", and NO WE WILL NOT, AND NEW BEDFORD CITIZENS/TAXPAYERS DO NOT FIND ATONOMOUS SCHOOLS ACCEPTABLE TO NEW BEDFORD"S PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT".

We the Public, Parents, Grandparents, Teachers, Teacher Supporters, and Ordinary Citizens, will hold every School Committee member accountable for there "Vote" on Small Atonomous Schools.
