Murders, home invasions, armed robberies, and assaults seem to be on the rise in New Bedford.

Didn't our mayor make crime a major focus of his campaign?

He said he was a tough Federal prosecutor that would deal with crime head on, has that happened? Has he said one word about the rise in crime? Should he at the very least address the growing crime problem here? Is crime not important now that he's mayor or does he feel there's nothing he can do about it so he'll ignore it? Will he use the police chief as his next scapegoat?

Maybe the standard times should set up a substation at city hall so they can tell Mitch what he needs to do. Everyone knows Neil isn't getting the job done.

Thank God we got Nancy Feeney's opinion. Now I can rest easy.

The union is referred to as "entrenched." Of course we are! New Bedford's teachers, acting together, are the union. You can't have schools without teachers.
The S-T publishes nonsensical statements in an effort to hurt us. In the end, it displays their poor writing skills and lack of journalistic integrity.

Why did the S-T quote Nancy Feeney? She is a “has been!” Mitchell needs to focus working on the budget and getting the tax rate set. In my opinion, the article was not complimentary to Jon. Wonder what will happen at the next S/C meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The standard fish-wrap is an anti-union pathetic excuse for a newspaper.

I agree that the paper didn't paint Mitchell in a very positive light. It's obvious he bit off more then he could chew and he has no plan for the city. He's making it up as he's going along. I'm sorry I ever supported him.

Nancy Feeny being quoted? Why? She's a nobody. They must have been desperate for a quote.

I hear the school department is really into "investigations" this year. Here's one for the CSI people at PRAB: 12 Roosevelt teachers were told they had Efficacy training today. Substitutes were hired for each teacher. The training was NOT held. It sounds like the district just threw about $1,000 out the window. Who was responsible for this waste of money?

The Roosevelt principal is a good talker. She has bamboozled many community and political leaders. Let's look at the data. She has taken a successful urban middle school and run it into the ground. The MCAS scores are in the toilet. Morale is at an all time low. We can't take another 3 years of incompetence. Let's send her packing!

Mary Louise Francis was merely doing what she was told to do by the school committee. If she gets the axe then the school committee should as well. They should not be allowed to hide behind their scapegoat! They dictate everything in this district and some members' reputations for retributive actions against disobedient employees is well known amongst the staff in this city. It's absolutely criminal what some of these politicians get away with! Disgusting that these are the people that will control the future education of the children of our city. I wish I could afford to move to spare my own children the result of their deceit and stupidity.
