NBEA Members:

The time is coming that we might have to hit the streets (protest) and work to the rule to voice our displeasure over the lack of a contract. What will YOU be willing to do? Teachers need to set the education agenda for our city. WE are the experts. The mayor, SC, Roundtable, and UIA are incompetent clowns.

Jon Mitchell is a carpetbagger that barely lived in New Bedford. Just look at what he is doing to our city. Mitchell is not invested in New Bedford. It is a stepping stone to bigger and better things. All would be better if Tony Cabral had won. He "loves New Bedford."

I think Mitchell Chester was referring to effective Charter schools, not GLC.

This is an assault on breaking unions. Promoting charter schools, autonomous schools, etc., Americore teachers, you name it. It is happening here as other places in the US. BEWARE.

So, Mitchell found the money to force Francis out at the cost of $200,000. Hire Shea at $13,000 per month, but state in the paper that he is not going to "rush" into a contract with the teachers of the city. Well, our contract expired over 11 months ago, so you aren't rushing anything. Mitchell, you are selling your soul to a very small and corrupt group and you are selling out the teachers and middle-class working families of the city. You barely won, if you want to ignore the 2,000+ employees in the school department and their voting family members, be ready to be a 1 term mayor. How about a recall vote on Mitchell. Wake up everyone, we are not vocal enough. Stand together and demand a new contract.
