HIJACK…..

The New Bedford Public Schools is like an airplane that is being hijacked.  When planes are hijacked, it is usually a clandestine operation.  The plans and identities of the perpetrators are usually secret.  The forcible takeover of the NBPS is happening before our eyes and we know who is responsible: a political group that masquerades as a religious organization called United Interfaith Action (UIA).

While I agree that there are forces behind the scenes working to move their agenda forward let us not forget that governor Patrick signed the innovation schools into law two years ago. That move opened the door for the likes of Pollack and Livermento to implement their plan for control. They are simply taking advantage of a opportunity in front of them. How many of us voted for governor Patrick blindly because he was a Democrat? We are all to blame and although our schools need a huge infusion of optimism and energy these two innovation schools will not work sharing existing school space with Roosevelt and Gomes schools.

So is Pollack being deliberately useless on the School Committee? Is she "throwing the fight" so to speak in an effort to further her own agenda? Why doesn't she support autonomy in existing New Bedford Public Schools? As a Member of the school committee, does she not have power to forward some of these initiatives at the schools now? Individuals like Pollack profess to care so much about our students and their education. Why then are they so willing and eager to abandon the schools that we have for their own "I know better" ideas? I don't know about the rest of you but that sounds pretty egotistical and self serving to me. Why would they not want to give arts to every student in NB? Why not expand the music program that we currently have? Especially considering budget cuts in past years had all but decimated it until the last few years it has started to grow with the support it needs from the district. Will that be taken away again once another of these schools begins to suck off the already meager budget? I just can't see the logic in their motivations. This is a time for consolidating resources and working together to create alignment and consistency across NBPS K-12. This goal is so attainable if only would would focus our attention and efforts on it. This really smart tall guy once said something really eloquent about a house divided falling and united it stands. Makes sense right?

I wonder who, besides the UIA, is behind the proposed "dual immersion" innovation school slated to be co-located in Roosevelt Middle School by September of 2013 if it is approved? It is a very interesting question, and one I would like to see answered, although I daresay I have an inkling of who may be responsible.

Rumor has it that Danielle Carrigo got the pot stirring with this dual immersion school. She tried to get a Chinese one opened in Boston and failed. The group of teachers that met and furthered the proposal work at Gomes School and the leader is allegedly a Union Rep and may potentially be planning to run for President in the near future. Beware of sell-outs and turn-cloaks!

^Marlene Pollock and the UIA have working on that Faculty Rep for some time and they have convinced her that the time is right to take over nbea.

We all know Marlene and the UiA now control the school committee and the mayor works in tandem with them and the roundtable so it makes sense to take the next step.

How can that Fac Rep submit an innovation school proposal at our school when we have made it clear we don't want it? She never bothered to tell the staff or the principal that she was planning to do this.

^ I think this is called a "failure represent".

Maybe cut a "deal" with the mayor.

Why is NBPS webpage so out of date and quite frankly, poorly designed. Nothing is ever updated. Look at Fall River or Brockton's webpage.

NBPS webpage is an embarrassment!

Doesn't anyone even care?
