Disaster Averted… | Whalingcitywatch.com

Whaling City Watch congratulates the New Bedford City Council for their unanimous vote to allocate $1.9million in state education aid to the School Department.

                                                







First, it was the right thing to do.  Money intended for the schools belongs in their coffers.  Despite what the Mayor’s Office and the blab sheet on Elm Street will tell you, the City of New Bedford is legally obligated to implement the new contract with the New Bedford Educators Association.  If the Council had voted NO, devastating cuts would have been made in other line items of the NBPS budget.  That would have been the School Department’s fiscal cliff.
