An Educator Responds

I am dismayed to hear that, once again, religious leaders are being sought out as the go-tos for what is needed in the educational community. While it is helpful to get feedback on community wants, what needs to be remembered is that educators are here to help students learn- not to provide every service under the sun but that. Why does the burden of the economic needs of the city always seem to fall on the shoulders of teachers?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when people dismiss the advice of teachers in educational matters.

I hope Mitchell doesn't show up for opening day.

If Mitchell shows up and when he begins talking, everyone should take out their cell phones and begin texting. He has text many times at the School Committee meetings and during the public comment meeting for the innovation schools which he left this own meeting EARLY.
