Danielle Carrigo's status in NBPS seems uncertain

According to the Standard Times the superintendent would only say that Carrigo is no longer “available". “She is not available at this time and that’s all I can really say,” Durkin said. “It’s a matter that is taken under advisement.”

School Committee member Marlene Pollock said she was “very sorry it didn’t work out.”

Carrigo did not return the newspaper's call for comment.

Replaced one pit bull with another?

I was told she was escorted out of PRAB on Monday. Can anyone verify that?

Marlene just lost her BFF.

This is cause for a celebration! She did absolutely nothing for our ELL population and even proposed to collect them all, and place them in a new location, in isolation. She would give this new school a fancy title, and call it innovative. She used false pretenses and deceit, bribery, and brutality. I ask: Is this equitable? Hell, no! My advice, she will reek havoc in her new district, as well, so be on high alert! She is capable of almost anything. She does not belong in education, be allowed to publish false credentials, and connect herself to our precious Immigrant population! She had a moral and ethical obligation to this community of Immigrants, and she FAILED them!

The Joe McCarthy of New Bedford Public Schools is gone.

Celebration time, come on!

Who can forget Carrigo's investigations?

What was with her fainting spells?

This is horrible. Danielle was a wonderful woman and these accusations are sheer lies and vehemence trumped up by the fact that she put students before her personal life. She had excellent innovative ideas and her loss will be felt be the entire school district and our ELL/ESL population will feel the repercussions. Those of us who know her will know that this is pure absurdity and that New Bedford's loss will be an incredible gain for whatever lucky district she goes to next.

FYI We all put our students before our personal lives. Pia obviously felt that her position was optional.

I was one of Carrigo's victims, she'll get not sympathy from me.

Maybe somebody should ask Natalie Sherman and Marlene Pollock about these stories that keep cropping up. The stories triangulate between the same people and then force an official response from school officials.

Isnt it obvious what Sherman and Pollock are doing?

Anonymous said...

Here's the Sherman/Pollock game that probably led to this:

Two dangerous people are out of the NBPS. First, the Woman of the Year departed for Randolph. Now it appears that her co-conspirator, Carrigo, has gotten the axe. Maybe Danielle can find gainful employment in Randolph working for her pal, the side show attraction.

first of all that POSITION of diversity and equity was stupid and RACIST. Get rid of IT....it was face whore mongering at best

Ding-dong, the witch of Diversity and Equity, is dead!

Positive statements are nothing more than a web of lies. Carrigo's track record of mobility throughout urban circuit speaks volumes! This member of the Education Round Table had numerous opportunities to advocate for, and right the wrongs, committed against ELLs, but she chose a deceitful path paved out of revengeful actions. At the beginning of a new school year, she introduces herself and tells her audience of educators that they will answer to her for diversity and equity issues. She uses bully tactics to intimidate! She steps on her Superintendent's toes and conducts false and illegal investigations. She held secret meetings in support of her outrageous proposal, pitted colleagues against colleagues, colleagues against directors, created unsafe teaching environments all in the name of glory and fame and the pretense of ESL expert, Immigration, and Family Engagement! Not once did she hold an event for ELLs and their families. Not once did she use her position to empower them! Gotta give her some credit, and a gold star for manipulation, for the alliances she formed w/ Mr. Sociopath, Pollock, and other hood-winked persons. Wondering if Mayor, new Superintendent and certain School Committee members regret once supporting her!

maybe she left to spend more time with her "family".

It's obvious to me that Durkin is covering up something.

Anonymous said...

Natalie Sherman didn't do a good job with this article. She mentions the fact that Dr. Carrigo has left the building but she doesn't probe into the details. Why? It's almost like she's involved in the cover up.

Anonymous said...

^I guess the newsrag is so interested in protecting Queen Dirkin that Sherman is afraid to expose what really happened. She doesn't want to upset her bosses who are giving Durkin a free ride.

Durkin has fired an excellent administrator. It's a sad day for all ell students and their families. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Anonymous said...

I'm going to miss Daniella Carrrrrrrrigo. She had such a sweet pout for the camera.

Anonymous said...

Another one bites the dust! Durkin will not rest until she destroys the union and gets rid of everyone hired by previous superintendents. Andy, Sue, and Steve are next.

I've done nothing but cry since Daniella Carrigo left us

Whoever wrote that Carrigo was an asset to the district and did her job well, has no idea about her true character! She has destroyed many lives. We were her victims! This is her MO! If NBPS had heeded the warning, this could have been avoided. They should have been proactive, followed her paper trail, and properly checked her references. Furthermore, we are watching the events of a replayed movie as she was escorted out of Boston Public Schools! Wake up and stop kidding yourself! The woman is no damn good to the very core of her being!

Regarding Carrigo's experience, it highlights the instability and establishes a pattern. She is just another transient, with no commitment to district! Just a paycheck and self-serving motives! She is not respected in this field. That is a fact.

Maybe trying to remember where she was caused the dizzy spells?

Can I offer the crier a tissue?

"This is horrible..." comment was most likely posted by Danielle, herself. No one in their right mind would regard her in such a complimentary way! You can't squeeze a round table into a square hole, and a leopard does not change its spots!

I cry for those whose lives she touched with do much love, tenderness and respect. I pray that the mayor gives he a huge buyout, I'm sure he will because he's such a good hearted man himself.

Growing up in a biracial family and advocating diversity my whole life, I never knew I was a racist. She told me I was so I thank her for helping me see that.

On the lighter side!

What does Napoleon have in common with D. Carrigo?
Answers may vary. Will leave to conclusions and imaginations!

This departure is certainly an unfortunate event? What will those of us in the community do about this? Surely this action by the new superintendent is not justified. As a friend of bruce rose and Kate Fentress' roundtable I say say that something needs to be done. The community can not, should not stand for this injustice. We need Dr. Carrigo , what will the ell population do without her? I'm praying for her quick return and hope that the community will rise up against this injustice. We should do a candlelight vigil to show our dissatisfaction with pia durkins actions. I'm hoping the the coalition for social justice, the education round table, and Uia will leAd the way. Please Marlene, do something. Our children are counting on you.

This departure was long overdue! Maybe you were not exposed to her wrath, but I was! If a candlelight vigil is held in her honor, and for an expeditious return to this district, I promise, I will do a rain dance to put out those flames! Although, I am not powerful enough to extinguish the flames of her residence in HELL! Like they say in Latin: Lex Talione!

One down... Many more to go!!! Not a Durkin fan at this point but I'm getting enjoying out of watching incompetent people get the boot!!!! Who will be next? I can think of at least 3 more that need to go! This is going to be one hell of a year. Stay tuned folks......

Her track record more than speaks for itself! When you spend two years or less in a position and jump around that much, anyone with a clue would put up a red flag!! We have great people working for NBPS that are "lifers" and great teachers that want to move up the ladder the correct way but can't catch a break. This has always been a system where people walk into PRAB having little to no teaching experience (but know the right people)and get high paying positions but have NO CLUE on what teaching is all about!! NBPS will NEVER get things fixed unless they have strong LEADERS in place at all levels. We have one Asst. Superintendent that spent less than 3 years in a classroom! We have people that didn't meet the 5 years or more teaching qualification but are in the position anyway....same with some of our administrators.....and people wonder why we don't make progress???? In my opinion, strong teachers have a better chance of being solid leaders and administrators. Wake up NBPS or we won't ever break this horrible cycle of mediocrity!!!

Dear Former NB Colleagues,
I would just like to share that this journey was a very difficult one. Upon reflection of posts relating to Carrigo, I seems many were exposed to her in negative ways. For me, I am still putting the pieces back together. She attacked my Person in such I way that I questioned my personal beliefs, philosophies, and moral and ethical obligations to my students. I was fractured. She hurt me in the worse way possible, though my students!
It's remarkable that when good vs. evil battle, the good prevails!
This affords me the opportunity to thank our Union President on behalf of all of us. The man listened to our voices, believed in us, and fought tirelessly beside us. He was available day and night, repairing the Danielle's damage. It is rare to find someone like Lou. The world is not a nice place and kindness is viewed as a weakness. My former Union President taught me that you can be kind and compelling, but cautious, as well. Under different circumstances, I would teach in this district once again, and bring my very best with me. I would do it for my ELLs! Educators, we did good work! When you stand strong in your convictions and fight to preserve your integrity, you can't go wrong! We just witnessed that with the current turn of events! Have a great year!

Why is Dr. Carrigo's name still on the letterhead?

Anonymous said...

Because they can't afford White-out!

I don't think the concerns are far off the mark. This woman is clearly a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - with what appears to be some sort of a personality disorder.

One never knows what you are going to get with her. One moment she's kind, appropriate and helpful and then in a flash she's mean, hateful, and very much a bully.

It's my understanding she's been booted out of many communities because she just can't get along.

Wtf is wrong with you I know her she is terrible I hope thode are tears of joy that shes gone. You can have her!!

OMG! This women is currently working in my school district (Whitehall Jr. Senior High School in Whitehall, NY. Our new Superintendent, Elizabeth Legault,(as of Jan 2014) is a close personal friend of this Dr. Danielle Carrigo and has hired her as a consultant. She is suppose to be some kind of genius with numbers and is evaluating all of the districts teachers to recommend what they need to do in order to improve their state scores. She is suppose to be a specialist in data driven instruction and best teaching practices. We've been told that she has a doctorate from Harvard and was a math teacher. In addition, we are not allowed to see the notes she takes on us during her evaluations. Please respond back with any help or suggestions that you may have.

I was one of Carrigo's first targets in New Bedford. She is a sick and dangerous woman. Carrigo specializes in character assassination and outright lies. I offer the following reccommendatIons:
1. Document all interactions with her. This includes observations. Carefully watch and record everything she says and does.
2. Inform your union leadership about this blog and what you have learned. In fact, send all your colleagues here.
3. Do not speak with her alone.Alwaya have a witness
4. Please keep us informed about your Carrrrrrrigo problem.

I am a parent from Denver Language School. This blog caught my eye when I saw Danielle's 'work history'. It states she was at Denver Language School for 2 years and 8 months, which is UNTRUE. She was hired several months before starting her position at Denver Language School. She quit before the school year even started, which was August 2010. This is alarming that a principal would like about her job history!
