Show us how committed you are to the children of New Bedford by giving your teachers the help that they need to achieve this goal. Smaller class sizes, paras, books, more planning time, and take the time to listen to the people who are on the frontlines everyday-your teachers. These are the people you should be supporting!

"I was ... left with a feeling that the leader of the School Department is full of hopefulness and is prepared to get her hands dirty so that our students can achieve the potential they possess."

Take it as you will.

I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong but I think Durkin has no respect for the teachers of New Bedford Public Schools.

Let the suffering commence. This educational leader considers us the enemy.

I see that Dr. Durkin is our Keynote Speaker for this year. There must be no money left to hire the motivational speaker we usually have. I fear she may be a demotivational speaker. Please prove me wrong, Dr. D.!

I am dismayed to hear that, once again, religious leaders are being sought out as the go-tos for what is needed in the educational community. While it is helpful to get feedback on community wants, what needs to be remembered is that educators are here to help students learn- not to provide every service under the sun but that. Why does the burden of the economic needs of the city always seem to fall on the shoulders of teachers?

Did I miss an election? Since when did the Inter-Church Council run and replaced the School Committee!! Inquiring mind would like to know.

Whatever happened to separation of state and church??!!!

Separation of church doesn't mean she can't ask for advice; it simply means she can't put one religion over another. However, I would like to see her ask a group of teachers (not sycophants, but some who are willing to speak the truth she needs to hear without complaining) for advice - and actually take some of it!

40 people showed up to this event and the ST runs a story...remember when the students, staff, and community members held events for change(vision?) with many more in attendance with NO coverage?

She couldn't motivate me if she tried!!! My kids motivate me not some Superintendent that has been in how many districts? If you REALLY want some answers ask some of our amazing teachers....stop asking everyone else!! Something tells me she wouldn't listen to us anyway......just my 2 cents.
