City teachers' union president takes aim at mayor, superintendent | SouthCoastToday.com

The Standard Times reported that "Mitchell, whom St. John addressed directly in his comments, said he would not get into a "back-and-forth" with the union leader and is not concerned by the issues St. John raised."

What are your thoughts? Should he be concerned?

Mayor Mitchell's lack of concern tells me volumes. This mayor has been either brain washed or what is happening in this city is just what he intended. That is the only way he could not give a hoot about the mess we are in. Has he signed the contract we ratified last year? We are sick, afraid and at our brink! Someone should be concerned? It is each and every educator in the city of New Bedford. Our future is clear, WE ARE DOOMED! Unless we are heard.

He should be very concerned and rigorous in his thinking and in his caring. I am not sure that goal is attainable!

Thank you Lou for, once again, standing up and speaking out for us. You are the greatest!

This should extinguish any negativity regarding our union and how it protects our best interests! NBEA is always there to fight, preserve, and defend its members! Unlike our representatives and administrators...

Mayor Mitchell, all DUE respect, but Union President Lou St. John may be one person in your mind, but he SPEAKS for me as my Union President, as well as my Union Brothers and Sisters.....capitalization intended!

I miss my colleagues and students but after reading what has been going on I am so glad that I was laid off!

Thank you Lou ! Just remember you can't fight with an unarmed person-meaning small minded and ignorant Mitchell . I wish someone with half a brain would have run against this tyrant. I'm not a teacher, I am a parent who knows how hard these teachers work for our kids! What has Pia Dia and Mitchell done for our kids-NOTHING!
