I believe the mayor's comments in today's newspaper clearly reflect what he really thinks about teachers, their union and unions in general. Submitted by Lou St John

What do you think?

Mitchell is a prosecutor and treats teachers like we are the bad guys.

NB Educators,

What kind of message does this send to teachers, administrators, and the community at large? We don't value teachers? We don't value students? We take in everybody else's throw-aways? Let's go back to last year. A former transient Superintendent brought Carrigo on board without checking her references or background, and was hoodwinked. Carrigo felt she had the power to step on whomever got in her way, including Mr. Shea. She asserted her power, and for a while, was on top! She was a force to be reckoned with. She had her own sick vision for this district because the Mayor, SC, and others, did not intervene. It was through these actions that she had bullied, threatened, and destroyed. There was only one person who had the courage, strength, and morality to stand beside me, and that person was Lou. Everyone else was to busy, did not care, scared or intimidated, or felt I deserved it. Now, we have Pia Durkin. She must have sensed we were a weak and fractured district because that message is perpetually reiterated. Come to New Bedford. Treat us like dirt! We welcome and embrace adversity. You can step on us! Well, they are in for a surprise! And, we have the fight of our life on our hands! We can, and will, reclaim our district back. Know why? Because we can. Because we care. Because we love what we do. Because we value our students and ourselves. The bottom line...When good vs. evil do battle, the good always prevails! That is how the world works. Just give it some time, and support our union president as he puts his best foot forward on our behalf!

Mitchell is brain-dead! He has some serious issues and does not belong representing our city! He is harmful, as well!

The ONLY reason I walk into my classroom every day, at this point is because I love my students. They are the reason I can face the challenge every day. It is getting more and more difficult, but I will not give up because of them. Someone has to speak up for our children. If not us, then who? It is time for us to be heard. Enough!

I am a parent, I love NB teachers! They work endlessly to support our children. I have 3 children in the system , I feel like pulling them out. Not because of the teachers, but because the disrespectful behaviors that is demonstrated by Durkin and Mitchell! I don't want children to witness her behavior. I did not vote for Mitchell -He lacks substance. Support our teachers!
