Rigor is the new buzzword.

The definition of rigor is "harsh inflexibility in opinion, temper, or judgement", "an act or instance of strictness, severity, or cruelty" that one word says it all.

In my school, thanks to all the "rigor" flowing downhill, the principal is using the kids lunchtime to drill them in math. The poor kids can't even enjoy their lunches.

A certain principal met with a teacher to explain that rewrite was not a rigorous objective action verb and she needs to change it to revise in her planbook. It's like the difference between retire and...I DON'T PLAN TO WORK FOR THESE WACKOS ANYMORE!

Rigor and fidelity are two of the most overused words.

I'd like to see that useless mayor who calls himself a former tough federal prosecutor reduce crime by 50%.

Pia, Jon, and Bob need to spend time in a classroom teaching.

I think someone should file a 51a against that principal for cruelty to children while their eating..where is the outrage call the standard times and have them investigate this ,call child and family services call the department of Ed that principal should be fired!!!

Providing our students with multiple approaches to learning is nothing new. Forcing an entire school system to produce learning through endless RIGOROUS lessons is insane. Whatever happened to being understanding of student learning styles? Whatever happened to supplying accommodations as needed ? Am I the only teacher who has students that need quiet and down time in order to be successful ?
RIGOR has its place "funeral homes"

I do not think it is worthy of a 51A but I do agree it is ridiculous! Lunch is a time where students can socialize with their friends and it is well deserved. To take that away from them is unfair and stiffles their social/emotional growth in my opinion. The principal needs a new job he or she does not belong in education.

Sick and tired, of the whole mess. When is enough, enough? No one can believe the insanity we live with everyday, unless they are in it! "Rigor" in my classroom and "rigor" to find another place to make a living, that feels a whole lot better than this. If we cannot solve this PROBLEM then, getting out is the only solution. My soul cannot participate in this "rigor" any longer.

Take a moment and speak to a teacher that lost their job due to budget cuts. You will be surprised to learn that it was the absolute best thing that has ever happened to them. They have found new jobs, in better districts, and can't believe how great it is in school districts that treat their teachers well. The insanity of punishing teachers that take on these tough jobs in the inner city is shameful.

In my school we didn't have time to have any real discussions with students about 9/11. Why? Benchmarks. I'm confident we will make kids hate school even more than many already do. Loving this rigor thing.
