It is true that people need to stand up and be counted -- I've said it before, and I'll say it again, "In unity there is strength." This is the premise behind all union organizations. The union leader is just that -- the leader -- who needs his union brothers and sisters to help him fight for what's right and to uphold the contract, not just for the benefit of Units A and B, but for the children of the City of New Bedford, who should be able to have a quality education provided by teachers who are given the autonomy and resources to perform their chosen field to the best of their ability. Teachers should not feel the need to cower behind a figurehead, but hold their heads high and show everyone in the city that they are proud to be teaching the future citizens of New Bedford. Let's show the mayor, the school committee, and Dr. Durkin that we will not be silenced and forced into retreat mode. Let's all stand and be counted!

I agree! EVERYONE needs to stand tall, stay strong and show this ridiculous administrator and the public what we're made of! No more being demoralized and pushed around. We're on the front lines fighting the battle everyday.
I agree. I'm tired of being observed once or twice a week and then having to meet with the principal for a review of the observation, at the end of the week, only to receive NI. This is a 5-10 minute observation and it is judged? Twenty-five years of teaching and in a Level 1 school and every teacher has been getting NI at least once a week? I'm sick of having that finger point to the RIGOR chart and told this is where you are, but I know you can be here! Maybe, if you leave us alone and let us continue what were doing, that got us to a Level1 school, we might remain there! At this rate, kiss Level 1 GOODBYE! Too much stress for students and teachers!
We need to question why the very principals that have NEVER been subjected to true work evaluations as administrators are now evaluating veteran teachers. Many of these people were ineffective classroom teachers, now they feel qualified to label others as NI or worse?
