What are your thoughts?

In today's newspaper, Unger suggests that Chester should designate Parker a level 5. I wonder why he didn't mention that the lack of parental involvement is a factor that needs to be addressed but can't be controlled.
If the newspaper staff was given a new format for publishing every couple of weeks, would they just say, "OK, that's rigorous but we can do it--we can do anything!"....or would they rebel against a constantly shifting base of expectations? After one sh*tty day of PD, many of us have another crop of protocols amd "look fors" before we've had the opportunity to get the first round of new stuff working. I feel sick. I've spent most of this weekend resting up for another week of rigor and roll over me.
This is all about money. Sinking our schools equals power and control plus federal dollars. Imagine our reputation in other district's eyes? The corruption is utterly disgusting! They know we attract the undesirables, and are prey to educational predators. They know our mayor is useless and SC is no better. We have little money and very few resources, but they scrounged enough to line Durkin's pocket while we teach with the bare bones. Go rigor!
Ours is the only occupation where everyone knows what we do long and what we should be doing. I don't see doctors, lawyers, police officers, or firefighters constantly being bashed and second guessed. The crime rate is still high in the city, unemployment is high, and people continue to get sick, stay sick and die. Why aren't the professionals involved put down and talked about on the air and in the newspaper? Seems very biased to me.
I have an idea; if you have a free planning time during the day how about making a quick observation of our administrative team to make sure that they are doing rigor work at getting us the new computers, wireless internet, latest materials and supplies to help our students. By the way, this also refers to the Superintendent and all her Assistant Superintendents. Remember, she found money to hire, I believe, three new people since Dr. Durkin became our "rigorous" leader!!!
Why does the correct answer have to be "thinking out of the box"? How about a principal with leadership skills, structure and routines, discipline and consequences for student behavior, high expectations, the belief that all kids can succeed, and good old fashion hard work.
Until we hold the parents accountable for their children, nothing will change. These children are being brought up by people who feel entitled and obviously don't care about their child's education. I am tired of bending over backwards to accommodate these people when they are too lazy to make any kind of effort. ENOUGH!
All this rigor, stress and teacher evaluation busy work is going to lead us to a mental breakdown!!! I have no time to spend with people who are much more important- my family and friends. HHEEELPPP!!!

Perhaps, the standard times has all the answers but they just won't tell us what they are.
I thinking that Pia Durkin is just as honest as the two Mitchells, Jon and Chester.
I'd like to hear more about Unger's "out of the box" thinking.
^that must be a joke. If he could think out of the box, their circulation wouldn't be in the toilet.
I'd like to believe that most of us have already canceled our subscriptions. Now we need to focus on our friends and families.
Why pay for a sub-standard rag when you can get all the news for free?

I agree. Who's supervising the supervisors?

My thoughts are that its Sunday night and I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow morning. More stress, chaos, and put downs by administrators.

I'm willing to bet Parker will be declared a level 5 school. That will be Mitchell Chester's gift to Pia.
