The whole city is collapsing and the newspaper continues to attack the NBEA. Why don't they do front page stories on the restaurants that have recently closed downtown, or the businesses that are behind on their rent?.... a front page story on the wave of new crimes, or the decreased purchase of their paper? Did they call Dr. Durkin to ask where she donates some of her salary? Does she contribute to our local help organizations?

Pretty slow news day if that was all they could come up with! Journalism in NB ( unlike in Jim Ragsdale's tenure) is dead.
Phil Paleologos is ripping us on WBSM again, too.

Phil is nothing but a big windbag !!! He has never stepped into a classroom to teach so he knows absolutely nothing about education. Don't worry about the 20 people that listen to his show because I can tell you they know nothing about education either.
It is a disgrace that teachers are being criticized for pulling our money from UW. Most commenters said they would be giving to other local organizations. It is our money and seeing that they are hostile to teachers, we choose bot to support the.
Dr. Pia Durkin is a genius and a miracle worker. With her stratospheric intellect and firm grip on reality, Dr. Pia Durkin is going to address all of the problems caused by chronic parental incompetence by forming committees, magically transforming their recommendations into odious, burdensome, and incomprehensible policies, demanding "resources" from the...bottomless...um...well of resources, and of course, by punishing teachers.
I'm not a teacher. I don't even have a college degree. I'm just one of those disruptive people who walks into a crowded room and in a loud, clear voice says, "Hey! What's that elephant doing in here?!"
Stay out of the hot sun folks, and buy some clothes for Emperor Durkin.
Boycotting the united way is the right thing to do.
Let's not forget to boycott the Shawmut diner. The place is a dump and Phil is a phoney who uses his show to attack teachers. The guy is pitiful.
It's our money- if they are so concerned about the UW-why doesn't Phil, Mr. Unger and the school committee along with Dr. Durkin donate their earnings? They make a hell of a lot more than the teachers!
Why are the other hosts at WBSM so protective of Phil? I find this odd. What does he hold over them? He speaks with authority on educational topics he has no right to do so on. Same for his guest Peter Barney. Mr. Barney knows many things---but the state of our schools is not one of them. Read about the reform movement and understand why Dr. Durkin is a pawn in the game. LET THE ACTUAL TEACHERS INFORM YOU.
Cancel your subscriptions to the paper and it will set them back over $200 per unsubscribed. Also, those teachers that use the NBST in their classrooms should stop picking them up in the office. The Globe has a South Coast edition and is full of real news and gives two sides to all stories on education reform. The Standard Times has opted for the Fox style of news ...
They can bash us on the radio and in the newspaper, but when we boycott their businesses they are appalled and insulted? Guess they underestimate our financial contributions to this city.
Phil reminds me of the old lounge lizard that no one ever listens to, let alone take seriously.
Please also remember why Scott Reiniche has become very vocal with his defense of Phil. Scott is a dj on FUN 107 and JR just announced he is moving to Arizona. Scott is trying to put his name out there so that ppl will recognize him. With JR gone, that leaves a position available and ole' Scotty is looking to fill it. A former listener of that station, I know listen to a Providence station.
I hope Reiniche gets a dental plan with his promotion. He has a face for radio.
Perhaps the S-T believe that by constantly bashing the teachers and union that they will sell more papers.
