“Together We Stand United and Strong”.

Hello Members,

December 16th was a frigid and icy night but that didn't stop our members from attending this months school committee meeting. The NBEA would like to send its appreciation to each of you who showed your support for your fellow members tonight. The meeting was memorialized not only by the momentous show of support from our members but also by the sea of RED clothing which could be seen throughout the crowd. Each of us attended tonight’s meeting to deliver a firm message to our Superintendent and Our School Committee members. We will do what is necessary to support our schools, our Union, and the many children of New Bedford.

With nearly 100 of our members attending the meeting there was only standing room left. The crowd was adorn in a sea of RED and our significant presences couldn't be left unnoticed. In fact it captured the attention of  Mayor Mitchell. During public comment our members courageously stood at the podium and voiced potential solutions to their many valid and serious concerns.
With the New Year just around the corner I would like to make you aware that the next school committee meeting is at 6:00 pm on Monday January 13th. The District Climate Action Task Force is looking forward to seeing many more of our members attend this and future meetings. We are again asking you to display your support by wearing an article of RED clothing. Tonight we had nearly 100 members wearing RED demonstrating their support for their Union, community, students, and their schools. Please share this date with the numerous other members in your building and encourage them to join you at next month’s meeting.
At the meeting  I was asked by our members “what can we do next”.  Well the next step is to begin to gather your friends, family, and your coworkers and make plans to attend the next school committee. Every meeting needs to be even more impressive than the previous. I would also encourage each of you to take this opportunity to share a few words during the public comment portion of the meeting. This time is a powerful tool which as members we can openly access. Remembering that in order to be heard we must first begin to speak. The larger our group the louder our voices will be heard.
Once more I would like to thank everyone for your show of support at the school committee meeting. This is your Union and we need the support of everyone during these difficult times. Remember: “Together We Stand United and Strong”.
 Yours Truly,

 Bryan Hancock

Yes, and part of us acting should also include refusing to listen to certain radio stations. I was disgusted with Fun 107's Scott Raniche's response on FB to Lou St. John's comments about Phil P. the former owner of the Shawmut Diner. The media loves to manipulate and I am done!

Yes, the young padawans at the station have no clue what Phil has done in the past...and pretends to not be doing now. The sweet and loving voice on the air will never erase what I know about this man.

WE are not doing anything. We talk alot, but WE need to organize something huge after the holidays. A huge walkout or sick day and lets see if the people with all the answers can handle a typical school day. We need to unite and make something happen. This is getting old. The bullies are winning.

All the teachers, staff, parents and other should be together and support this matter. New Bedford is our town. Support is the word.
