Yesterday's meeting was the beginning ... Submitted by a member
It's about time New Bedford's teachers have finally realized that they CAN do something about the way they are being mistreated and maligned by the superintendent, on the radio, and in the newspaper. Remember that in order to be taken seriously by the public you must show them that you are strong and united in your cause. The meeting on Friday was a good start - but you cannot go back to the old way of not participating and supporting the NBEA - in the end, it is the NBEA who has your back - not the mayor or school committee. Show all of them that you are not going to sit back and take their abuse.

Excellent post. Mr. Lacey eloquently stated that it is time for us to defend our profession and professionalism. We can no longer sit back and allow others to defame us. We have been battered and abused for far too long. We are highly educated members of this community. Let the teachers teach, let the police keep us safe, let the firefighters stand guard, and let the students learn in a less anxiety ridden environment. Mayor Mitchell--get back to being a mayor. Use your strengths and stick with your area of expertise--we all know it is not EDUCATION!
STAND STRONG AND UNITED.
