Contradictions .... Submitted to NBEA

Why is it that the S-T is so willing to support individuals who knock down and criticize teachers and the union? How many times has the S-T quoted former Mayor John Bullard and member of the Education Roundtable with his negative comments towards teachers? On the other hand, as was in yesterday’s editorial, the S-T was critical of Scott Lang for speaking and addressing the issues with the schools and for supporting the teachers of NB.

Former Mayor Lang is a citizen of NB, property owner, and sent his children to New Bedford High School. Former Mayor Bullard moved out of New Bedford and never sent his children to the NBPS.

It seems like the S-T is calling the shots as far as what they want for the school system. If you are in their ball court, you are golden; however, if you go against their grain, you are a “backseat driver.”

Money, Money, Money!

Life is good for some under Mitchell.

Durkin $185,000
Bradshaw $100,000 +
Daly $100,000 +
Larkin $100,000 +
Business Manager $100,000 +
Chief academic officer $130,000
Azar $100,000 +
Ell Manager $100,000
Boston Lawyer $215. Per hour
De Carlo $1000. A day.

For others it's "hard". We have no money for books, paper, pencils, photo copiers, toner, working computers or anything else our kids need.

Did I miss something in the last election? I don't recall seeing Steve Urbon or Bob Unger's name on the ballot. What makes them or others at the S-T, members of the Education Roundtable, and UIA think they have the solutions. When if ever did they teach in the NBPS? Talk about being backseat drivers, they all fit that to a "T."

They all worked for the S-T. Wonder what the S-T's dropout rate is!!!!

Fewer people are reading the ST. "Daily (Monday through Saturday) circulation for The Standard-Times averaged 31,629 in mid-2006, down slightly from the 33,047 reported earlier that year. The Sunday Standard-Times averaged 33,524 in the six months ending August 30, 2006, down from 34,217 in the six months ending March 31, 2006. As of September 2010, circulation has fallen sharply to 24,723 and 26,521 for daily and Sunday circulation respectively." And don' t forget the ST about 10 years ago tried to push away these stories: Publisher William T. Kennedy came under fire for New Bedford boosterism again in the 2000s (decade), as critics alleged that his support for building a multi-million dollar aquarium—he served on the board of directors for the waterfront "Oceanarium" -- was skewing The Standard-Times' coverage of cost overruns and delays. The ST did it before--now they are doing it again.

Crooked, crooked mayor and his cronies- They make thousands while we don't even have supplies for our students! What a crock! He needs to go along with Pia and her overpaid thugs!

Who really cares what the writers of the sub standard times think-anyone? They are so biased and out of touch with reality, they have become their own self-filling prophecy-A BIG JOKE!
