Does Mayor Mitchell support teachers? ... Submitted to NBEA

Jon Mitchell and his rubber stamp school committee gave us Pia Durkin, a money pit innovation school, denied our grievances, took away elementary planning time that was negotiated, and appointed Durkin as the level 3 hearing officer. And he says he supports teachers?

To clarify: He did not take away the planning time-he took away the pay!

K-5 teachers are pushed to the limit. Regular responsibilities have all been pushed to home. The measly planning times we have are consumed with data, evaluations, meetings, forms, and TESTING development+copying+grading+retesting

In short--if he supported teachers--we would be believed, praised, empowered and valued. Grievances would not be ignored, the turnaround would be questioned, and we would not be bashed on radio or in print.

How is that not an ethics violation? Conflict of interest ? Why are we not allowed a third party to hear grievances? Why do we have to follow state ethics law and school committee doesn't?

He is such a phony!

It's hard...it's really, really hard...(to support teachers.)

Absolutely not.

On his watch two schools were declared level 4 and one was declared level 5.

We started the year off with 200 hundred less position because the education mayor deliberately underfunded the school department by millions. That's real support.

Life is good for some under Pia.

Durkin $185,000
Bradshaw $100,000 +
Daly $100,000 +
Larkin $100,000 +
Business Manager $100,000 +
Chief academic officer $130,000
Azar $100,000 +
Ell Manager $100,000
Boston Lawyer $215. Per hour
De Carlo $1000. A day.

For others it's "hard". We have no money for books, paper, pencils, photo copiers, toner, working computers or anything else our kids need.

Jon Mitchell has really supported us by taking from our kids and stuffing Durkin's pockets with cash.

Jon is a real man of the people! Don't believe me, just ask the Mitchell's nanny.

Bring back Lang!

Mitchell's nanny is probably an illegal immigrant - he probably treats her worse than his treats the city's teachers!

Jon Mitchell does not support teachers - he has done nothing but "demoralize" them. He hired the spawn of the devil to lead the school department. He probably takes great pleasure knowing that she has created a "living hell" for the teachers of New Bedford.

NO

Mitchell has done more harm than good. He needs to go back to being a FFP that is if the federal government wants him.

Are we talking about the "education" mayor who has yet to spend a morning at one of our challenging schools? I don't believe it!

Doesn't Mayor Mitchell have friends or relatives that are employed by the district? Can't they share their experiences with him, and enlighten him to what is really going on. Is he reaching out to them to get another perspective?

I hear his parents are teachers...

Typical politician. We should not be surprised. He is scared to death to walk through our schools. His treatment of teachers is criminal and he must understand he has no hope of re-election. Scooby Doo could beat this guy right now. Thanks Mr. Mayor for all of your suppport.
