Is there no comment that this woman will make that doesn't have the word "Data" laced into it. I'm sure that "data" and "rigor" are two words I like to remove from our lexicon in New Bedford.
You wish you controlled "all" of the media. You wish you could bend "all" of the facts. You wish you could scare "all" of the teachers. You wish you could fool "all" of the parents. You wish you could dominate "all" of us. "All" that you have wished for is "all" at the expense of "all" of our students.
The Attleboro Sun Chronicle is not in your pocket like the Standard Times. ABC6 News is not controlled by you either. You have brought shame to this district. Jon Mitchell went "all-in" with his blind support for you and now the two of you have embarrassed the city of New Bedford. The two of you have scared away "all" of the new potential teachers you had hoped to replace us with. We will not support you. We will boo you in public. We will support your opponents. And we will never stand-down until you two back off and show us the respect we deserve. Stop bad-mouthing us at every turn. This game of semantics is lame and transparent. When you tell people how great things are going they all laugh and know you are full of crap. We were willing to work with you, we accepted you with an open mind, and we greeted you with a standing ovation. You must work to rebuild this trust with us. You will not destroy the lives of thousands of people, we won't let you, and we will never understand why you ever wanted to. Work with us or resign.
Teachers and students should report ALL assaults that are being made on them! The public has to know what is going on . They can only learn about these assaults and what is truly happening through you! Pia Durkin, the mayor and school committee will NEVER, EVER tell it like it really is! They should all be ashamed of themselves for what they are doing to OUR New Bedford Schools. DO NOT let Pia Durkin the mayor and school committee INTIMIDATE us! It is just what they want!!
Teachers are told NOT to submit conduct cards. Can't wait until Channel 6 gets wind of that. We need to use all of this DATA and show some RIGOR and see that this Superintendent loses her job. 185K...what a joke.
Almost twenty years ago the elephant was a realtor working in the Leominster/Fitchburg area. For those of you who aren't aware, the local community is best described as undesirable. I lived there for ten years and saw things I've never seen anywhere else.
Sadly, I did not sell much real estate but I did get to meet some very interesting people. One of the more interesting characters I encountered was a woman who claimed to be a counselor for pregnant teenagers and unwed mothers. I've forgotten her name so I'll refer to her as Barbara instead of repeatedly typing "this woman."
When a teenaged girl gets pregnant one can hear or read the usual predictable excuses: "My contraceptive failed. We made a mistake. Heat of the moment...etc."
According to Barbara, many of her clients provided a very different story. For many young women getting pregnant is the only way to break up with their controlling, abusive boyfriends without risking their lives.
I know...it sounded strange to me too.
Apparently, breaking up with a sociopath is perceived as a threat to his majesty's (my words, not hers) sense of manliness. The less dominant males will no longer respect him. Other females will think he doesn't have what it takes and avoid him. Etc. and so forth... Young women are beaten and sometimes murdered (remember O.J. Simpson) for daring to break up with his majesty.
If you're a teacher in New Bedford, this is probably starting to sound painfully familiar. Read on. It gets even better.
Getting pregnant allows his majesty to save face by breaking up with her. After all...a real man has his pride and can't be tied down to no pregger. He gets to strut around campus like a stud without any intention or obligation to provide support. Meanwhile, she's stuck with a baby that neither she nor his majesty wants. No other guy will look at her twice. Her higher education and career prospects are pretty much trashed as well. And if she gets an abortion, he'll probably beat her or even kill her for murdering "his" child.
Sound familiar? I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about all that unbridled manliness. How about you?
And now for the best part of the story...
Barbara expressed a great deal of frustration about the behavior of other teenaged girls. In spite of the fact that his majesty was a known abuser who abandoned his pregnant girlfriend, there was never any shortage of pretty girls who seemed anxious to denigrate the previous girlfriend and pick up where she left off.
So here's my question:
How many of you have encountered or otherwise heard of this sort of situation in your own school system?
And will firing all the teachers finally put an end to dating violence?
If she is still more upset about the bad press than the actual incidents that's a RED FLAG. Even though we know students fight everywhere...the climate of test over teach...data driven, "rigor" obsession, constant stress and TEST, will not help improve the situation. Sadly, Dr. Durkin subscribes to that mentality. DATA DATA DATA DATA DATA (Will be the message on her headstone)
Too bad we can't get Fox News (the spin doctors) to investigate these two clowns(Durkin and Mitchell)! These two bob and weave as though they are in a boxing match! You can get a straight answer out of either one of them!

Resign! Both Durkin and Mitchell! Break out the torches and pitchforks!
I think even Michael Rock was annoyed with her

Had to throw that in for Oberfuhrer Durkin.
Stay out of the hot sun folks.
