I am not a cynic by nature ... a parent's point of view

With all due respect, even if the final number being fired ends up around 15%, it is rather disingenuous to present that in a positive light given the fact that in order for it to be that low great teachers that had more to give our students are retiring early, or voluntarily leaving in search of a district that actually respects their educators.

There are many factors responsible for the achievement deficiencies in this district, but none nearly as influential as disinterested parents and a dysfunctional home environment. Frankly, I think we are doing more harm to our students by losing good teachers, than we would to just keep the disinterested ones. I think it is quite cowardly that the administration didn't simply target and confront the very few that are ineffective and disinterested.

I am not a cynic by nature, but I am increasingly suspicious that this isn't about teacher performance or even what is best for our students, but rather re-configuring the bottom line by weeding out teachers with higher pay grades.

Weeding out teachers with higher pay grades is only a part of it.

Thank you. It is nice to know that there are people out there that understand. I am one of those "early retirements". Thank God I had enough years in. I am devastated for my colleagues, my heart breaks for them. I am devastated for the students, both the ones that are motivated and those that don't care. They will all suffer for this. The trouble started years ago when resources started to dry up, money was misused at best or stolen at worst. Good teachers have been giving 120% for years, trying to make up for lack of materials, resources, and technology. How the city Nd DOE think that we can survive this is a mystery to me. I am sorry.

No teacher should apologize for the disaster that has been created by our mayor and this tyrant they refer to as a superintendent. She does not care about our children, our schools or our community. The public is aware of her antics. Thank You to all the great educators we are losing. This city will never know the real value of our educators until they are gone. She is nothing more than a coward with a Napoleon complex!

PIA is at the end of her career. This cold-hearted minion has nothing to lose. She retires with a cushy severance package courtesy of the city of NB while our schools are depleted of resources. She's not worried about her reputation which is notorious and synonymous with destruction. She's retiring after the deed is done.

I don't like how you think administration should "target"people....
