Thank you City Councilors for your support! Demand to know why Dr. Durkin and the Headmaster say they knew nothing about this until video went viral. Sounds like someone is covering up something and IT IS NOT THE TEACHERS OR THE STUDENTS!!

Thank you Mr. Gomes! I applaud you! It's not the teachers-the violence in all levels of New Bedford schools is out of hand. The teachers hands are tied because of Pia Durkins policy of no discipline!

Normandin is getting in on the violence action. Durkin has created a monster.

I hear Normandin has been a mess for some time. Durkin has only made it worse with her no discipline/blame the teacher approach.

Who is the next principal of Normandin going to be? Please let it not be a Durkin clone!!!

The kids are acting out because there are no consequences or anything to look forward to. They are not allowed to go on any field trips; barely any get approved. They have had unified arts cut and now the move is to extend Math & English to four hours per day while limiting all other academic experiences to only two total hours per day. Well, if the plan is to make sure all students hate school then we are well on our way. Kids need something positive to look forward to. Do all of your work and do not get in trouble then we have a bowling field trip, or we visit a college, or have a field day at the park. Instead it is rigor, rigor, rigor, assault, rigor, rigor, bring in a weapon, rigor, rigor, rigor, quit at age 16, rigor, rigor, rigor.

This insanity has to end. Durkin will put another young, inexperienced individual in the position at Normandin and the chaos will continue. Heard today that another principal is leaving in June.

Most subs won't even go to Normandin. They have one heck of a time getting coverage there. This is all rolling downhill folks. No consequences = chaos. This woman has to be fired!!!!

What an embarrassment this school system is.

If there is a word for beyond embarrassment, that is how I feel teaching in this district. Just when I think it can't get worse, it does! I can't imagine this happening any other place. My neighbor served as a juror on the Big Dan's rape case in the 80's, and he feels a stigma attached to it and won't discuss it. That's exactly how I feel. Only this is a different type of rape. . . . .we been taken advantage of by the state ed. commissioner, superintendent, mayor, and school committee. I hope someday an investigation takes place, and we get to the bottom of it.
