At first, I was amazed by your action to accuse the victim, then I remembered that you previously attempted to conceal the rape of a child in the Attleboro Public Schools. So it is evident that you do not recognize the victims of crimes that may affect your reputation.
As a taxpayer to the City of New Bedford, I believe that by remaining in your current position is a theft of New Bedford taxpayers dollars. You are clearly incompetent in this role. I request that you hand in your resignation and please leave the field of education. Another district should not be exposed to your 'search and destroy' missions of incompetence.

Well, said. I am also a taxpayer of the City of New Bedford and I agree completely with this post. I cannot leave my name for fear of retribution in this climate of fear as I teach here. Would love to see that letter of resignation handed in. Ms. Durkin has destroyed our schools.

People think this is the tip of the iceberg; this is not even a snowflake in comparison to what happens in the high school. This incident is not the first major incident, and it only came to light because of the video. The truth is, it happens often. Teachers are not allowed to speak about what goes on at work. Abuse, assaults, and the rights of licensed agents of the state (teachers) are violated daily. Teachers stand in front of full classes alone. Police officers in the building never answer to complaints alone they bring backup, have authority, and weapons at their disposal. Why don't you hear more from teachers? They are not allowed to speak about their work.
Publish the names of teachers who have left the district or are leaving, fired, and retiring this year and last, and you will see that the system is in deep trouble. It should be public record and public knowledge. Show the truth speak the truth, KNOW THE TRUTH!

Is it true a much larger venue will be needed for this years retirement recognition celebration? I heard it they need the largest gathering space in recorded history for the New Bedford Educators Association. Would it be possible to post the average age for these retirees and years of service? I like that type of data.
I agree, durkin needs to resign or be terminated for failure to do her job In a competent manner. She should not have her contract bought out! She needs to be given the door. I will vote no confidence if asked by union body.

Let's get the petition started. This superintendent's actions go beyond gross incompetence- we are witnessing blatant and destructive abuse of power. Her carefully architected words in her FUN 107 interview clearly placed the blame for the situation on the teacher.
I couldn't agree more. I, too, am a taxpayer in New Bedford and resent the fact that our complaints fall on deaf ears. Please, Mr. Frechette, get a group organized to rid our city of this horrible woman. I will be first on the sign-up list. In light of the most recent assault on a student at Normandin Middle School...how can we justify keeping this woman as superintendent. Our schools are war zones... not safe for our teachers or for our students. This has to end.

The only reason many administrators are going is because they are being terminated in order for the Durkinator to bring in her own drones at high price tags. If anyone thinks they're going to be any better than the administrators we have now, you'd better drink some more Kool-aid while you eat your vegetables!

I am a parent and a tax payer. It is obvious to me and to many parents that this "woman" is out to destroy the school system. She leaves both the students and the teachers with no options. She should look in her toolbox and see if there is a one way ticket out of New Bedford because no one wants her here!
What about the crew downtown (mr and mrs)? If you father is a judge you get jobs and are guaranteed to be untouchable? We taxpayers and residents want to know who else has guaranteed jobs at everyone's (our) expense. Let the people who pay say who stays and who goes. Durkin has demonstrated exactly what the teachers have been stating all along. There is no discipline in the schools and they are unsafe. The two the media grabbed hold of are just a drop in the bucket. There are parents who realize she is a one woman show and support teachers. They have met with her and determined for themselves that she does not have a vested interest in the city of NB.
I was a teacher in Attleboro under her. I was there when the teacher was blamed and disciplined for the attempted rape. I can't believe other districts hired her. Those hiring should ask the teachers for recommendations. She's a power-hungry woman with no regard for the education of students. Get rid of her.
