A message from Joanne Maura

My personal thanks to those who attended yesterday's meeting and especially for the warm reception I received. Tears still come to my eyes when I think about it. Having the retirees and other supporters there to greet us when we came in was great encouragement, and I would also like to thank them for taking the time to show their support!

You were thrown into the fray through no fault of your own. You have come through with strength and grace. How someone deals with a difficult situation shows their mettle, and you are an example to us all. Stay strong teachers of New Bedford!

The meeting was all worth it just to hear Ms. Maura speak. I found it incredibly moving and empowering. You are an inspiration for many timid employees. Thank you.

There is no meeting next week. The press is reporting incorrectly.

Thank you Joanne for thanking the retirees who came out Friday to show their support to the present teachers of the NBPS.

Joanne, I am so sorry that mitchell, durkin, school committee, and high school admin are so callous and cruel when it comes to teacher safety. If not for that video, your strong sense of character, and perseverance, these monsters would have maliciously continued to hold the wrong person accountable. I am sorry they have no shame and for all that they put you through.

I cannot thank the parents who support us enough. Thank you to all parents who show support and realize what's happening in their children's schools.

Our hearts go out to all the teachers who give so much and to those teachers who were harmed or hurt by this shameful district. Your strength is a beacon for those who may encounter similar circumstances. I applaud you all for standing up in the face of adversity and unpredictability. Teachers leave lasting legacies on impressionable young minds.

Somebody, throw holy water on the mayor, sc, superintendent, and all the other useless ed leaders. Their actions are sinful. Stop hurting teachers.

What's up with Pia Durkin and her SC comments regarding Chester Mitchell? From the way she was talking, sounds like they are besties and durkin can hit him up for money to "save the district" and he will comply. Shouldn't we know about this? Is the commissioner her real boss and the mayor and sc must answer to her? Let's see if the S-T can get to the bottom of this. Ask those tough questions.

Our mettle is waning. June cannot come soon enough.

They are angry because the truth you speak contradicts the lie they live.

It's Mitchell Chester not Chester Mitchell. He should be out and he can take Pia with him!

The medical community earned their money this year with all our mettle being drained from us. The dysfunction, stress, high blood pressure, anxiety, and distrust eats away at our morale. We are human and can only handle so much. I did not sign up for this when I chose to become a teacher. Nobody did. Durkin needs to take her baggage and dirty laundry elsewhere.

What happened to the vote?

Mrs. Maura would have gotten "fired" had that video of the chair throwing incident not surfaced! How do I know? The "kid" was back in class the next day and administrators were trying to get Mrs. Maura fired on a technicality! When the video was shown, the administrators looked like the fools that they are! It is hard to hide that kind of evidence!

Let's all pray that the new administration at the high school can perform miracles because following the weakest and worst administration in the history of the high school will be a almost impossible job.

And now at the high school, the new incoming administration has teachers creating teacher schedules for next year! Of course, some are giving themselves the plum schedules. The new administration is putting the "strongest teachers" with the freshman classes. How are they identifying the "strong teachers"? What does that make non-freshmen teachers? Are they weaker? I think it is time for me to join the exodus!

So true. We are dealing with a bunch of fools. Their lies are catching up with them. There is so much we know that they don't know we know. Teachers are very smart. We learn quickly.

How many lies have been told in order to keep secrets, protect, or cover up? So many, we've lost count.

The above post is true.Shame on them.

Did anyone attend or see the school committee meeting?

Joanne thank you for being the catalyst for exposing their lies and deceit.

Not so surprising the supt. who was fired from Attleboro has hired two new administrators for NBHS who were fired from their previous jobs! Does she think they will be so grateful they will do her bidding without question???

She's a sick woman.

Are teachers the right people to set up schedules? They can certainly make their own the best. This seems wrong! Does the union sanction this? I thought the restructuring team were to restructure the HS, not do scheduling of themselves and their "peers." I guess they are not peers any longer...
