A note for Mr. Chase

Dear Mr. Chase,

Thank you for sharing your candid letter about Pia Durkin. No one asked your opinion because no one wanted to know the truth. Pia Durkin was hand-picked by Mitchell Chester from the beginning. The nationwide search committee was a joke and a smokescreen that few people believed, but we, alas, did not have a voice. This year has been HELL for me as a teacher at the high school. I feel sorry for those who are going back. Some people feel she will be gone by the end of the calendar year. I don't think she'll be gone until our insincere mayor and his bobble-head school committee are gone as well.

What kind of message does that send when your Superintendent, Mayor, and School Committee opt to fire teachers rather than work side-by-side with them toward the same goals? This is unbelievably sad.

I'm not sure how old the people are that comment on this blog, however, I remember a time about ten years ago when my principal thought it was pretty funny to bring in a "start-fire'" person who was supposed to get things started in NB. I forget her name, but my principal at the time was chuckling at the choice of person who was to address us "coaches". When her intro was over and we had to evaluate her "performance" she was cut from NB like a sail from a boat!!

People who intentionally hurt others are walking or living in darkness.

I have little sympathy for people who choose to hurt others and lie to hide nefarious intentions. With Durkin's ego at the wheel, anything is possible. Without properly established boundaries, human empathy and natural connection, “anything” is usually pushed into the chaos of ubiquitous darkness. This is amplified by the lack of support and respect by Mitchell and his bobble-head SC.

Hope the principals who have hurt teachers and administrators rot in hell

To answer the first question on the comments section, it sends the message that teachers are not valued at all by this educational system, the system at large, and eventually by the community they represent. You know who got this message loud and clear? The STUDENTS. The system has abused us and gotten away with it, so why shouldn't they?

So sad and so very, very true. Why should they respect us? They know no one else does.

Why should they respect us? No one else does. They tell horrible lies about professional educators. Many putting dedicated teachers jobs at risk. They are believed by administrators who can't or won't do the right thing. Kids are running the buildings. Administrators are laughing all the way to the bank.

Maybe it's time to vote No COnfidence in some members of the school committee and the Mayor since they are not willing to support us!

Until we see a change where these officials will support the teachers, and not a superintendent who is more diversive than any individual I have ever seen, we should be working to make the community aware that we need new school committee members and a new Mayor.
