This School Committee is the laughing stock of Massachusetts.
MTA is in for an interesting time under our new leadership. I can't be as enthused at some given our president-elect's ignorance of the basics of issues confronting K-12 educators. Passion isn't a placeholder for knowledge.
That said, I get that being always reasonable isn't the way to go either. I'm hoping Barbara has the wisdom to listen to her staff and learn from them, and rely on Janet Anderson, who excites me as a future vice-president more than anything else coming out of Annual Meeting.
I'm thinking about Phony Phil and his radio hugs. Now that the Shawmut dump is at the prison he'll have more time to tell everyone how much he loves teachers while stabbing them. That man has no integrity and his radio show is a disservice to the public.
not an educator - but was wondering if the school principals that have been carrying out durkins orders felt about the no confidence vote? pacheco? hathaway? devalles? high school?
Boob Unger sounds angry in today's newspaper. Why Boob? Are you upset because we didn't take your orders? Are you angry because you pretended there was no violence st the high school and the truth got out. Thank you ABC6. Or is it because there is a climate of fear in our schools and you don't like to admit the truth. In any case you are a bob.
Nearlly all of your people voted no confidence in Dr Durkin and the paper blames Lou St John? Stay strong NBEA, you are doing the right thing. I wish our president in Attleboro had had the guts to stand up to that tyrant.
Nobrega regrets "giving" Lou St John a teaching job? That is hilarious. I believe the starting pay was around 15k back then. Even if his statement is true, the fact is if you stay in the field of teaching you need to be certified, evaluated, and a masochist.. What has Nobrega done as a member of the SC? I doubt it would merit a paragraph. He has no clue what is like to teach in this city. Lou does.
It is the principals' jobs to "carry out" orders. Carry them right out of the door, when they do more harm than good. Unfortunately the new hires have no investment in our district, don't know our families, our history, and the ever changing "best new thing" approach. They are worried about having their own contracts renewed. Listen to veteran teachers who have proven themselves. There is a core that are the history keepers and know what works. I agree with clearing out those who are not invested or who have limited skills no matter how much experience or training they are given, but that is just a small handful.

^ I think Phil was sucking up to Jon Mitchell to keep the city from foreclosing on the property.
Bob Unger's paper is on life support and it all happened on his watch.

The S-T is reading our posts again and sapping up our words for a column. No creativity of their own. Plagiarism does not sell newspapers.

Bob Unger is Pia Durkin''s public relations manger but it hasn't done her much good. Give Durkin enough time and she'll hang herself.

Nobrega said the he gave lou a job in the 70s. Interesting since Lou is about 50.
^ Lou is 52.
The Massachusetts Teacher of the Year doesn't regret the fact that Lou was hired as a teacher.
Norbreaga is Mr.Narcolepsy (chronic brain disorder that involves poor control of sleep-wake cycles). And, we have him on camera.
Jon Mitchell is the Cowardly Lion, but Lou always reminded me of Homicide Capt. Cragen from Law & Order SVU. With age comes wisdom; a proud 52!
So, who do you trust?
K.
S-T = Puppy puddle pads.
"Principals carrying out Durkin's orders."
Ummm. Isn't that their job?
Logic and rationality are to be treasured around here.

all of the principals carry out her orders:
pulaski
lincoln
cambell
Sad, Sadder, and Saddest. Unfortunately, teachers are to be blamed for all of societies faults because NO ONE is going to blame the lame parents.
Any news on the search for a new Normandin principal?
Who would want that job?
No, but it must be nationwide. All locals are incompetent. Just ask Pia.
All the principals carry out her orders
DeValles
Gomes
Winslow
