Property values going down, down, down. School committee promises to work with the neighborhood to institute a viable use for the building. Doesn't the building when vacated by the school department become city property? Promises and lies. That's all this regime is. I will make a promise to those school committee member and Mr. Mayor. I will work tirelessly to unseat each and every one of you. Each of you is a disgrace and have let down my community. I notice that the schools of the neighborhoods that these dictators live in are intact. And a very special message to Mr. Amaral: You are the biggest disappointment that has come through the system in a very long time. You promised to support the people of New Bedford yet you have become another backstabbing pion. Be sure you give Mrs Durkin money to line the pockets of her cronies. Sad, sad, sad. To the principal of the Kempton School; nice job covering your backside and selling your kids down the river.

Yes, I remember there were many great uses predicted for the George H. Dunbar School as well. What is it used for now--fire department drills? Nothing? That building had some decent art work and beautiful wood. Has it been stripped and auctioned off?

How did the principal sell the children out and cover her backside, please tell us taxpayers

The principal and Josh should have chained themselves to the fence. Or maybe Bouquet should have mentioned that the Kempton costs are a fraction of next year's teacher RAISES.

The principal shouldve gone on a light pop radio station with a voice changing machine. That's how we fix things round 'ere

Teacher raises? Sorry, you don't have a clue to what you are talking about. There is no contract as of this date for school year 2015-16 therefore there are NO RAISES!! Stop the propaganda!

So a teacher salary levels will be the same next year? WRONG. Watch the budget on local TV

That principal has been assured a principal's position in another school. What was happening at Kempton didn't impact her in the least. Just another day in paradise.

To the person bashing the teachers that chose to report on the radio, how is that any different than posting on this blog? People are afraid to come forward and talk about what is going on in our schools at the present time. The system is afraid of the queen and her minions. Kempton could be saved just by getting rid of the "bloat" at PRAB. The children of that neighborhood were let down by the people they trusted. I'm hoping the city council gives them a run for their money. It begins tonight.

If you just cut one big position at PRAB you'll have your money to keep kempton.................OPEN........................how about we start with the person who is not nice.

Which position..????..speak up...or forever hold your peace

Let me get this straight, the principal allegedly did nothing, and allegedly could have made some incredible impact and it is controversial that he gets place din another school. All other staff get placed elsewhere too. Are they suspected traitors too?

Teacher's raises? What raises? Oh yeah, the 15 dollars extra if got in my paycheck -WOW! We earn every cent. We put in at least a 12 hours day, don't get paid overtime, buy the students things out of our paychecks. Don't bash the wrong people, go after the over load at Prab. They earn 3 times what teachers earn. Get your facts straight!

We can't keep a bloody school open but we have become a hiring boon to Dartmouth residents?

If you work for the school department you should have to live in new bedford

Really, you believe you must be a resident of the city to teach in it? You, sir/madam are clearly a moron. There are still teacher vacancies at the high school and many long term sub positions throughout the district, and your solution is to limit the pool of qualified applicants to just the city? Good luck replacing the 75%+ number of teachers that are not city residents. You are probably an unqualified applicant for a school department job that feels slighted because more talented individuals currently have the position that you believe you are entitled to.

No, the solution is to stop pushing out highly qualified dedicated teachers and replacing them with inexperienced short-term employees that are less effective. The early retirements and exits for other districts are leaving us with less than ideal replacements.

It wasn't that long ago you had to be a New Bedford resident to have an administrative position in NB. There is something to be said for is idea. It would certainly afford teachers a better standing on the political scene if we all voted in elections. Just saying, but I guess I'm a moron too.

If you lived in the city then you would be more invested with the outcomes of all city matters, not just the school dept.it should be mandatory for principals and administrators.

REALLY.................if you live in the suburbs and your kids go to school in the suburbs do you really give a crap what happens in New Bedford as long as you get your paycheck..........not many do.

True. Administrators should be city residents. Obviously we need teachers from the surrounding communities to fill the positions. Divided loyalties are a problem. Some of these out of town admins don't work to provide the type of learning experiences they brag about their own children getting in other school districts.

Get admin from city residents. We can have a nice, corrupt clique sharing the admin

God help me. You hire the best person for the job period. During the interview process, the interviewer or group of interviewers drills down each candidate in not only the requirements of the job, but the candidates CV of prior jobs, reason for leaving etc. With a bit of (Oh, my God) common sense, which there seems to be very little, the best candidate is selected. If a city's resident score is close to a non-resident's score, and if it makes sense, give the resident the position. There is no guarantee how a candidate will work out or how long he or she will stay. Things change. But, you don't hire someone from Rockport who's going to commute four hours each day. Hiring solely from New Bedford, the ole "I have a favor to ask," in some cases has been a big part of the problem, but not always. A big problems is that administrators are out of touch with what it takes to teach in our city or at any specific school or grade level. As a classroom teacher they couldn't cut it, but amazingly they have all the answers as an administrator.

We already have a corrupt clique.
