Dear Members,
Dr. Mary Louise Francis has been appointed Superintendent of New Bedford Public Schools. Dr. Francis has worked with the New Bedford School system for 25 years; she is a true professional who has always put the needs of our students first by assuring that their needs are met despite these difficult economic challenges. In her current role, she has earned the trust and respect of all faculty and staff who have had the pleasure to work with her.
We congratulate Dr. Francis in her new position and wish her success. She can be assured that the New Bedford Education Association will support her efforts on behalf of the students of New Bedford.
I hope each of our members will make every effort to attend the next school committee meeting to support Dr. Francis and the New Bedford School Committee. The meeting is on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Keith Middle School. It will start 7:00 p.m.
The New Bedford Educators Association would also like to thank Mayor Scott Lang, Dr. John Fletcher, Attorney Tom Clark, and Ms. Marlene Pollock for their leadership and continued support.

Dr. Francis, you are truly a role model for our children, our teachers, and our community.
Dr. Francis has been demonstrating true leadership for the last 25 years. For the first time in two years I enjoy going to work.

I really don't know Dr. Francis at all, but after reading her letter on the home page of the NBPS website, I feel very confident that she can be a leader who may be able to turn around the New Bedford school system, and make it a better place for all of the children of the city. They need someone who will advocate for them every step of the way. Good luck to you Dr. Francis.
i think this is dumb why in the hell did we get rid of someone who wanted change its because she was black and nobody likes black people comon newbedford who was here frist the native americans so i think its dumb and horrible to have a white superitnent ):<
