This lady is only capable of negative comments when describing New Bedford educators. Put her name in Google images and you will realize why she has so much free time on her hands. I guess the stamp collecting thing didn't work out too well.

A consultant ( steal your watch to tell you the time) quoting a former asst superintendent who rode every inch of his contracts, benefits and retirements and now has the nerve to claim those same contracts are an impediment?

Okay, but she is correct on some points. This union and the contract it negotiated protects a small portion of ineffective teachers along with all of the talented ones. You know them. You see them. They're in your buildings, and you know how hard you have to work when you get kids in your class who come from one of their rooms. Don't you think parents know when their child gets a dud? As long as we continue to protect teachers who do not provide effective instruction, then that's all the public is ever going to see of us-- not the way we fight for kids, or the resources our students need, or against divisive administration.

To the last post: The person you consider a dud a may be a great teacher. In fact, you could be the dud in the building. I won't judge you.

This would be the same consultant that worked for old Portia If I recall correctly, she has been criticizing the union since Portia was around. Was she one of her advisors? BTW, where is she these days? I heard she's been applying for jobs everywhere but with no luck.
