What are your thoughts?

If she gets the job, her supporters will not be the ones that will work for her. God save the teachers of Waterbury.

Even the worse dictators have their supporters.

Herbert Pandiscio, of Avon, Bonner 's boss when he was interim superintendent in Hamden described Bonner as "an outstanding leader" and "tireless worker," who sets a fast pace for others, but makes time to counsel them as well.

Yeah, right! If she's so great, why didn't Hamden hire her as superintendent when she applied.

"Pandiscio worked with Bonner again when he was hired to review personnel procedures in New Bedford. In his recommendation, Pandiscio wrote that he found a system of favoritism and patronage in New Bedford that "impeded the hiring of outstanding employees."

Bonner hired Pandiscio her former boss, would that constitute patronage?

The only thing that gets in the way of hiring and keeping outstanding employees in this district is the district itself and the people in charge of it; Bonner included. She was just as guilty of "cronyism" as George W. Bush. The priority needs to be the students, which many in charge CLAIM that it is. Their actions speak otherwise. Just this week I ran into yet another teacher who will not be returning to work in the district in September because the NBPS district could not inform them of whether or not they would have a job in September. (Though I'm sure relatives of S.C. members don't have that to worry about) It is the end of July!! So like the same old story goes, they took a job at another school rather than be left without any employment at all. The district will call people to offer a position 2 days (if not less) before the school year starts. Then when all the best candidates have taken jobs elsewhere (Duh!), they will scramble to simply find warm bodies to occupy a classroom. The students will suffer the greatest loss and the rest of the teachers will get blamed for the failures of the district! This is total BS! They do this every year and people wonder why there are not enough quality teachers in our schools. We need to get up to speed with the rest of the districts in this state! This should be common sense, but a wise man recently told me that common sense is not so common anymore. The Greeks couldn't have written a more epic tragedy!

Are we STILL concerned with Portia Bonner???? Let it go. The NBSD has bigger problems than the last Super. I'm sure she isn't concerned about NB.

I have to disagree with the previous poster. Portia's comments to the Waterbury newspaper indicate she is following the events in New Bedford. I also know that Portia maintains personal relationships with at least one principal that is tied in with the UIA. While I'm not losing sleep over Portia, it is interesting to keep abreast of her activities. I'm hoping she has a job for the New Bedford principal she met at Foxwoods a few months ago.

I am still concerned with old Portia and I won't let it go until she stops bad-mouthing New Bedford.

I realize there are some Portia worshipers out there who want to muzzle Portia's victims from speaking out against her but I will not be silenced.

Paranoria regarding Bonner, we need to worry about the growing list of people who continue to determin what is wrong with teachers in NB.
