You've got to be kidding! This gangsta stabs a police officer multiple times and the schools should have seen it coming??? WHAT??? Are the parents or lack thereof responsible for this at all?
Steve, didn't you get the message? Didn't Bob Unger tell you? Francis is gone, you can stop blaming the school department for everything that's wrong in New Bedford.
G.R.E.A.T Gang Resistance Education And Training. This an program run at the middle schools for all incoming 6th graders and runs into the following summer. All the middle and high school SROs participate as well as a score of additional officers from NBPD. My daughter went through the program and loved it. This Urbon fool needs to do his homework. The system already addresses it. As well as bullying, harassment, sex ed, alcohol & drug abuse etc etc etc. What the system doesn't address is the neglectful parents that still continue to receive assistance while their children, starve, freeze, run the streets, do drugs, get pregnant and commit crimes. When are they going to be held accountable?
Instead of spending 11 million renovating United Front, they should have given that 11 million in financial aid to college bound graduates. Maybe then they could've helped some kids get out of the projects as opposed to making them more comfortable for a nice long permanent stay.
What generation have I stumbled onto? Since when do people expect to survive after attacking a police officer with a weapon? I do not mean to be insensitive to a young person's death, but how is this surprising? What the hell was this kid thinking when he decided to do that? What did he think would be the outcome?
Steve should have been ashamed to write such an article. Does he want the school department to raise the person from cradle to grave? Why didn't he mention the lack of motherly advise, guidance, respect for others, and proper bringing up of her child.
If Malcom had been home doing his homework, he would be alive today; if Malcom had not been carrying and stabbing the police officer, he would be alive today; and if Malcom has obeyed the officer's command to put down his weapon, he would be alive today.
I wonder what Steve would have written if the officer hadn't made it! Thank God the police officer survived the vicious attack.

Steve must not have had anything to write about this week. This article is a piece of biased B.S.

If Gracia had decided to give up pot and study in the evenings, would the system then have worked?
