The truth must be told....submitted by a member

I have never started a school year feeling so depressed. Without even seeing the children about to enter my room I have already been told by numerous people how poorly I do my job and how I must somehow produce more and do it better.
The public needs to hear the truth. We have classrooms without supplies ceiling tiles falling down saturated by rain leaking through faulty roofs, 30 students to one educator. We are told we cannot retain poor performing students, yet somehow we are supposed to make them all high scoring proficient students.

I live in your supt’s former district. In my personal opinion, there are lots of undercurrents going on that others may not know, shall we say, and she is very conscientious of every.single.detail.everywhere., if you know what I mean. Stay strong.

I am sad and depressed also. I always look forward to going back to school. . . . .but not this year. My stomach has been in knots ever since I got my schedule and saw the amount of students in my classes. I'm trying to remain strong but close to tears.

Why does New Bedford always get the "reject" superintendents?!?. . . . . . .you know, the ones that don't get their previous contracts renewed and are looking for the next sucker?

This is scary, but acute. The collaboration between Durkin and Natalie Sherman is too coincidental. After a public post in a different forum, a specific link from NB Standard Times was no longer accessible. They had closed the page down within a matter of minutes. A call to Natalia from Pia. Why all the secrecy? That is not a good way to start a new year or boost morale. By the way, we're out of toilet paper, again!

We can no longer plan on being career teachers. This is the first year I go back wondering if this will be it for me. I never imagined I'd be in this position after twenty years of true dedication.

I feel like I am about to enter hell tomorrow! What a way to start the year off to an already difficult profession. I am planning to use what little time I have to figure out if I can get out of the school dept. and survive doing something less stressful before it kills me. I will miss my students and seeing their eager smiling faces each morning. God Bless Us All!
