In my opinion, nothing.

Nothing but hand over the reigns to a heretic and fuel her destructive path with conspirators masquerading as a religious group.

Coming up with a blank here...

Well what did he do as a special prosecutor? Did he decrease crime by 40%? Was he able to guide criminals into a more productive way of life by providing rigorous discussions with them? Did he deter them from committing more crime? He has come down hard on teachers because he wants to rile up the voting public against teachers because through his time as mayor, he has not accomplished anything. He is taking the focus off of himself and putting it on teachers. This gives the voters and general public something to talk about. Kind of like the bully in school will pick on other kids because they want to make others focus on the other kid. Truth be told, he has done NOTHING. He just doesn't want anyone to notice.

Mitchell is the biggest joke played on New Bedford in years.

Mr transparent had his kids in private schools until he ran for mayor. Now he goes around saying his kids go to public schools...he thinks he's that much smarter then the rest of us.

Bang on! Mitchell's children were in private school until he took out nomination papers. Then he yanked his kids out to put them in public school. When he leaves office, his children will return to private school. Mitchell has not completed any major projects in his tenure as mayor. He has not brought in any new business. The businesses that have popped up over the last few years were as a result of Mayor Lang. Mitchell also runs a covert operation at City Hall. Everything this administration does both the school administration and city officials is behind closed doors. He wanted Francis out of there because she did not play his game. The city councilors know his game and they have had enough as well. Mitchell is using NB as a stepping stone to run for higher office. He wants to come down hard on teachers because he plans to use this during his campaign. He has nothing else to claim. Unemployment has not declined, crime is up. Where was he when a resident was shot and killed last night? Not his fault? Shouldn't he have known about it. Ridiculous? Bang on! It is ridiculous to think the murder was his fault. Wish he stopped blaming the teachers while he full well knows that some ppl are lacking in the parenting department. We are all accountable for these children. I love teaching but let's not kid ourselves, we have become a target.

Only 2/3 of his kids are in public school.

Jon Mitchell - the self-proclaimed "education mayor" hasn't done a single thing to improve education in New Bedford. As a mayor he is useless - the city council doesn't support him. The former mayor who worked so hard to get him elected is no longer on his side. There was another murder in New Bedford last night - he's doing an equally lousy job reducing the crime rate here. I hope SOMEONE runs against him the next time he is up for re-election. He doesn't deserve another term as mayor or
in any other public officer in New Bedford.

He has set out to destroy the New Bedford Public Schools. That's it as far as I am concerned.

When he speaks, his eyes are cast downward. I'd say that's a strong indicator of dishonesty with intent to deceive the public. His credibility is full of holes.

Let's not forget the mess he inherited at prab from mayor - superintenent Lang. He had 2 choices upon being elected. Hand over the school system to the state or try to fix the mess created once Mike Longo retired.
The easier choice politically would have been to blame Lang and let the state come in and then teachers would have no leg to stand on.
The biggest question that needs to be asked is how have his decisions regarding Supt. Shea and the dream team of Haskell/ Gurek along with the hiring of Dr Durkin and Patrick Murphy worked out? My opinion is so far not so good. Time will tell but he needs to demand discipline amongst students be priority #1 or all of his and the districts efforts will be fruitless.

Mitchell is a pathetic man. Durkin wears the pants on his committee. He wanted a superintendent who would do the dirty work, but we got in the way. I don't think they thought us capable of rising to the occasion; oh, how wrong they were. Administration may not value us or our safety, but we value ourselves as human beings and educators. We won't go down without a fight. This is our moral compass and a commitment to our profession.

Hey, Mitchell has done a lot. He visits the waterfront, supports wind power, and says "uh" over, and over, and over... Maybe he is at a loss for words due to an internal struggle of right vs. wrong. I hope his conscious eats him alive. He knows exactly what is going on and how harmful Pia's actions are, yet he and his SC members think they are fooling us with the rhetoric and prescribed questions they ask to placate the public. Mitchell laughs nervously and shuffles the attention on to a new subject. We are on to them. DISGUSTING administrative practices!
