Its highly possible that this story is partially true. Many immigrant parents for years wanted their kids to go straight to work not knowing the value of an education. I know of similar stories. I'm not saying Baker is telling the truth but anyone who worked at NBHS in the 70's and 80's can tell you this same story over and over again with different student names and years they dropped out.
Baker wasn't talking about drop outs. He was referring to students that were "outstanding" athletes with college scholarships and a dad that said no to all that for the boys to go to sea! I don't remember any brothers like that on the 2009 or 2010 teams. Liar liar pants on fire!

I used dropouts as an example. For generations many immigrant families placed no value on education, only value in working hard. This story is too vague. Did the fisherman embellish his story because he was speaking to the potential governor of MA to exaggerate the plight of fisherman today? I don't know. I do think both candidates are full of it. Educators are screwed with both candidates anyway!
I am that fisherman. I have a son that did not play football. He also did not choose to fish instead of going to college. He did graduate from NBHS. I am also a woman. WARNING: This tale may not induce tears during a debate.
How about Mitchell saying he comes from a fishing family...did any of relatives actually have their bodies touch the ocean and catch fish or scallops...think not..

I suppose he told a fish tale.
Baker sound like a bloody liar. It's no wonder that that goober at the standard times endorsed him.
Unger has a history of endorsing scum.
Typical Political B. S.
