I just hope I can keep hanging on ... Submitted to NBEA
It is hard not to give up when no progress is seen. As a second career professional, I have never seen such abuse. It is not something I want to tolerate for much longer. Life is way too short. I know I bring a great deal to the table to my students. My education and life experiences I feel are very valuable. This superintendent, mayor and school committee do not seem like they have the slightest concern for Teachers. I am fairly new to this profession and I have the utmost respect for those that have taught for years as a career choice. You are to be commended. I can walk away, but most of you cannot. I hope and pray that things improve. The New Bedford Teachers are the most dedicated, finest group of people I have had the privilege to work with. I have worked in several school districts and your professionalism is unmatched. I am proud to be included among you. I just hope I can keep hanging on.

Those are kind words that will be appreciated by all who read them. It is sad to think that there are others just like you who will consider leaving teaching because there seems to be little hope that things will get better.
